Be it known that I, JAMES NOBLE Een LIN, a citizen of the United States, residing at lVashington, District of Columbia, have 6 invented certain new and useful Improvements in Coin-Holding Devices; and I do hereby declare the following to be a. full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as lwill enable others skilled in Vthe art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to certain improvements in coin holding devices and the like, and particularly to a simple and convenient holder for small coins and street car fare tokens. y

IThe principal object of the invention is to provide a simple and inexpensive device of the character indicated, designed and constructed to receive and hold a certain number of coins or tokens in such a manner as to be dispensed therefrom as desired upon a simple manipulation of the device, said device being of suitable shape and size to be purse or hand-bag, or suspended from a key ring` or the like.

Another object of the invention is the provision of a device of this type prefer'- ably stamped and formed from a single strip of suitable material so that said device willnhold, in superimposed position a double layer of coins or tokens said layers being separated by the main body portion of the device or, in other words, a row of coins 0r tokens will be disposed on opposite sides of said device.

A further object is to construct the holder in as simple and inexpensive a manner as possible, eliminating all supplementary or auxiliary means for retaining the coins or tokens in the holder, said retaining means in the present construction being formed as an integral part of the device in a manner as will hereinafter appear.

The preferred embodiment of the invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings in which:

Referring to the drawinY in detail and particularly Figure l, the evioe which is substantially fiat comprises a main body portion l provided along its longitudinal edges with a series of oppositely bent inturned clips or the like 2, the inturn-ed portions of said clips being properly spaced from the main body portion l to permit the insertion therebetween of a coin, token or the like, of the proper denomination.

It will be noted that the alternate clips 2 are bent in opposite directions and overlie the opposite spaces of the main body portion l, thereby providing, as it were, superimposed guide-ways for receiving two rows of successively positioned coins or tokens. which tokens are inserted from one end of the device.

One or both ends of the device are pro` vided with oppositely curved resilient portions 3 and 4, said resilient portions being formed by extensions of the main body portion l. As illustrated, this construction is only applied to one end of ythe device the other end of the device being provided with a ring or similar arrangement 5 for suspending the saine from a key ring or the like. It is also within the scope of the invention to replace the ring 5 with an integrally formed clip or projection where it is not desired to use the suspending means. Both the ring and clip constructions, as preferred, will prevent the displacement of the coins or tokens from this end of the device, or as hereinbefore stated, if both ends of the device are provided with the oppositely bent portions 3 and 4, these portions will perform a similar function and in addition permit the insertion and withdraw al of the coins or tokens from either end of the holder.

It is believed from the foregoing descrip-- tion that the operation or manipulation of the device will be perfectly obvious. The outwardly bent portions 3 and Ll being of a resilient character, will permit, upon exerting the necessary pressure, the coins to be successively inserted in the guide-ways between the main body portion l and the bent clips 2, said coins to be withdrawn in a similar manner.

By simply splitting the end of the main body portion land slightly bending in opposite directions, the portions 3 and 4t formed thereby, a simple and ingenous means is provided for normally maintaining theV coins- Ways and also permitting, upon the proper manipulation, their withdrawal therefrom.

The Whole device can be stamped from a single strip of sheet metal or the like, the opposite longitudinal edges of the blank being cut or provided with the necessary slits to produce the inturned clips 2 in the inanner as hereinbefore specified.

From the foregoing description it will be apparent that the complete coin holder can be constructed by a simple operation and from a single blank ivliereby the same can be cheaply andexpeditmusly produced.
