To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, JOSEPH JLWnn'rm'a citizen of the United States, residing at St. Paul, in the county of Ramsey and'Statc' of Minnesota;have invented a new and useful Roll Writing Tablet,of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates towriting tablets of the continuous web type,'it being the primary object of the invention to provide a tablet wherein portions thereof which have been used, may berolled out of sight of the operator, the portion being capable of being unwound into full view, for copy ing purposes.
A further object of the invention is to provide a device of this character wherein p the T0115 may be'readily and easily removed from the frame, and replaced, when a roll becomes filled.
With the foregoing and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in'the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter 'de scribed and claimed, it being understood that changes 1n the precise embodiment of the inventlon herein disclosed, maybe made within the scopeof what is claimed, with out departing from the spirit of the in vention. i i
Referring to the drawing Figure 1 illustrates a plan view of a tablet constructed in accordance with the present invention.
Figure 2 illustrates a side elevational view of the same; and j Figure 3 illustrates a sectional View taken on line 33 of Figure 1. a
Figure 4 is a transverse sectional view through the device taken substantially intermediate the ends thereof.
Referring to the drawing in detail, the device is shown as comprising a frame which is made up of a pair of side bars 5 and end bars 6, formed preferably offlexible sheet metal, the side and end bars being connected at the adjacent end portions thereof.
The side bars 5 are tapered towards the forward ends thereof, so that the frame will be supported at an angle with respect to the lower edges of side bars 5 to facilitate the use of the device.
Secured to the side bars 5 and one of the end bars adjacent to the upper edges thereof,
guides for the web to same.

is a table portion?fwhichhas the surf e f thereof ruled with transversely extending lines indicated at 8, which lin'esjare of- :i-
character to be clearly visible through the web indicated at9, and which operatesvin close proximity to 'the table 7.
IA pair ofrolls indicated at 10 and ll are disposed in spaced relation with each other, and supported adjacent to the upper extremity of the frame as by means of the spring clips 12, each of which includes a length of spring material having its ends curved upwardly as indicated at 13, the central portion or portion intermediate, the ends of the respective clips being secured to the side bar associated therewith, as by means of the securing bolts 14.
F romthe foregoing it is obvious that by lifting the ends of the spring clips 12, the
rolls supported thereunder may be readily and easily removed in the event that itbecomes necessary to replace a roll.
Each roll is provided with a shaft 15 which is provided with a circumferential groove designed to accomodate the spring clipsfor restricting lateral movement of the rolls with respect to the frame; 7
One of these rolls is a delivering roll and the other roll is a receiving roll, that is, the web 9 which 'is'wound on one roll, has its free end secured to the opposed roll, so that rotary movement of one roll.
the
will cause the web 9 to be moved over table 7.
Secured to the side bars 5 as bymeans of the rivets 5 is a plate 16 over which the table 7 where the same may be written on.
In order that the web 9 will not be torn during the operation of the device, the table 7 is provided with downwardly and in-- wardly extending portions 17 forming v guide the same over the table. k
In the operation of the device, the web which is wound on one of the rolls, is wound on the opposite roll by rotating the portion of the web, which is resting on the table 7, is used, thatportion is wound on the receiving roll, and when the web has web 9 operates, the web passing over the It is of course obvious that as the been completely filled, the roll may be filed ing the opposed r011, whereupon theiweb is may be readily referred to, by simply rotatmoved to bring portions thereofto View.
Having thus described the invention, what isclaimed asnew isr:- or
In a writing tablet, aframe including side and end bars, a plate having right angled ends supported betweenthe side bars and having connection therewith, means extending through the right angled between one end thereof and one end bar of the frame, the tablehaving ourved upper and lower edges, spring clips secured to the side bars, rolls supported under the spring r clip, said. frame and rolls. adapted to support a; web and means for operating the rolls.
" In "testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own, I'have hereto aflixed my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
