Description

A. COHEN SANITARY GARBAGE REICEPTACLE Filed April 6. 1922 I INVENTOR $074M BY 1, I
ATTORNEY WIT/V55 fry Patented Uct. 23,1923.
' anna ANCHEL COHEN, OE PITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVANIA.
SANITARY" GARBAGE RECEPTACLE.
T 0 all whom it may concern Be it known that I, :hNCHEL COHEN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Pittsburgh, in the county of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful improvements in Sanitary Garbage Receptacles, of which the following is a specification. V V I This invention relates to improvements in garbage receptacles and important. objects thereof are to provide a device of the character stated, in a manner as hereinafter set forth, which is sanitar and constructed with a shiftable bottom permitting of the convenient removal of the garbage therethrough, and which is provided with a cover formed with a chamber and valve mechanism adapted to provide a regulated supply of disinfectant materials to dissipate odors and free the accumulated garbage from infectious or contagious matter.
Further objects of the invention'are to provide a device of the character described, which is simple in its construction and arrangement, strong, durable and eiiicient in its use, and comparatively inexpensive to manufacture. 7
To the accomplishment of these and such other objects as may hereinafter appear, the invention consists of the novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts herein specifically described and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, wherein is shown an embodiment of the invent-ion but it is to be understood that changes, varia tions andmodifications, may be resortedto which come within the scope of the claims hereunto appended.
in the drawing forming a portion of this specification and wherein like numerals designatecorresponding par-ts throughout the several views Figure 1 is a'vert-ical elevation of a garbage receptacle in accordance with this invention.
, base portionS which depends from the body Application filed. April 6, 1922. Serial No. 550,149.
portion 1 and conforms in contour to the shape of the top of the stand which will be hereinafter referred to. ,The top 2 is of smaller size than the base 3 and constitutes a rim at the upper end of thecollector. The setting up ofthe body portion, 1 tapered pro; vides a collector structure gradually increasing in size from its top to its bottom Which facilitates removal of the contents of the collector.
The stand is formed of vertical and horizontally disposed angle bars 4, 7, respectively. The bars 7 being securedto and Within the bars 4 at the top thereof, and the bars 7 are so disposed as to provide a seat for the base 3, as clearly shown in Figure 2. The base 3 of the collector is mounted in the stand at the top thereof, and is supported in an elevated position, which permits of the positioning of a can beneath the collector so that the collected garbage can be discharged in a manner as hereina after set forth, from the collector into the can.
The collector 1 is provided with a slidable bottom 5, which projects through a transverse slot'6 formed in one side of the base 3. To facilitate the sliding movement of the bottom 5, it is mounted upon a plurality of rollers 6, which are rotatably carried by opposed sides of the base 3. A laterally projectingpin 8 is mounted at each rear end corner of the bottom 5, to prevent the removal of the latter through the slot 6.
The collector further includes a removable cover com rising a dome-shaoed body 9 v anda rectangular rim 10 which is adapted to overlap rim or top 2 of the body portion 1 thereby closing the collector.
Secured centrally to the under face of the body portion 9, is a casing 11 forming a chamber 12 in which 'a disinfectant liquid may be carried. A valve 13 is mounted in the casing 11 for regulating the fiow of the liquid to the garbage, thereby dissipating odors therefrom and freeing same from'infectious or contagious matter; 7
' A handle member 14 is provided for the cover and the latter is sufficiently concaved to prevent the projection of the'valve 13 belowthe rim 10 whereby injury thereto is prevented when cover is carelessly handled.
What I claim is 1. A garbage receptacle comprising a collector comprising a body portion gradually increasing in size from its upper towards its lower end and terminating at its top in a perpendicular rectangular rim and merging at its bottom directly into a perpendicular rectangular base rim, said rim having its front formed with a'lengthwise extending slot, sets of substantially narrow rollers arranged within and suspended from opposed sides of the base, a shiftable bottom for said collector, said bottom mounted on said rollers and shiftable outwardly through said slot, and a cover removably seated'on and overlapping said rim.
2. A garbage receptacle comprising a collector comprising a body portion gradually increasing in size from its upper towards its lower end and terminating at its top in a perpendicular rectangular rim and merging at its bottom directly into a perpendicular rectangular base rim, said rim having its front formed with a lengthwise extending slot sets of substantially narrow rollers arranged within and suspended from opposed sides of the base, a shiftable bottom for said collector said bottom mounted on said rollers and shittable outwardly through said slot, and a cover removably seated on and overlapping said rim, and a pin carried at each inner corner of said bottom for limiting the outward shifting thereof;
8. In combination a. skeleton stand formed at its top with a rectangular seat; a collector including a tapered body portion having an open top and a perpendicular rectangular base mounted on said seat, a bottom for the collector shift-able outwardly through one side of the base at the top thereof, two opposed series of rotatable supporting ele ments, each series suspended from the inner face of one side of said base for said bottom, and a removable closure for said open top.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature.
