- the present invention relates to a poison liquid container which will dispense the liquid so that ants may feed thereon, and has for its principal object to provide a structure which will prevent the poison liquid from becoming spilled even though the container is upset or in any other manner disturbed. It is customary in poisoning ants to place the poison liquid in open receptacles and children,stock, and other animals or birds may feed thereon. This is impossible with my improved structure.

POISON-LIQUID CONTAINER.
Application filed August 10, 1925. Serial No. 49,388.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that ANTHONY W. SCI-ILE- SINGER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Beaumont, in the county of Jefferson and State of Texas, has invented certain new "and useful Improvements in Poison-Liquid Containers, of which the following is a speciiication.
The present invention relates to a poison liquid container which will dispense the liquid so that ants may feed thereon, and has for its principal object to provide a structure which will prevent the poison liquid from becoming spilled even though the container is upset or in any other manner disturbed. It is customary in poisoning ants to place the poison liquid in open receptacles and children,stock, and other animals or birds may feed thereon. This is impossible with my improved structure.
Another important object of the invention is to provide a device of this nature which is exceedingly simple in its construction, strong, durable, inexpensive to manufacture, efiicient, reliable, and otherwise well adapted to the purpose for which it is designed.
lVith the above and numerous other objects in view as will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in certain novel features of construction, and in the combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.

Referring to the drawing in detail, it will be seen that 1 designates a base having an upstanding annular wall 2 adjacent its edge. Openings 3 are provided at the bottom of the wall 2 so that ants may have access to the interior of the wall. The base 1 is preferably provided with a substantially conical shaped upper surface having a recess extending downwardly at the apex thereof as is indicated at 4. A cylindrical wick 5 is disposed in the recess l and extends above the base for a distance equal to the height of the wall 2. A fringe 6 extends from an intermediate portion of the cylindrical wick 5 and lies on the upper surface of the base 1-. Poison liquid is then poured into the cylindrical wick 5 preferably to a level with the top of the base 1 as is shown in Figure 1. It will be readily seen that the fringe (5 will be flush with the poison so that the ants may feed thereon. A cover 7 is threaded on the upper edge of the wall and has an annular channel 8 therein for receiving the upper edge of the wick 5. It will thus be seen that should the container be upset or disturbed that there is no chance of the poison liquid spilling therefrom. The de vice is very easy to handle and the poison liquid may be quickly replenishet. The structure as a whole is exceedingly simple and consequently may be manufactured at a low cost. It is preferable to construct the base 1 and wall of either pottery, a suitable cement composition, or the like. The wick is preferably constructed of heavy cotton and the fringe should be substantially heavy. The wick should fit snugly within the recess l and at its upper edge should fitsnugly within the channel 8.
t is thought that the construction, utility, operation, and advantages of this invention will now be clearly understood without a more detailed dcscri 'ition thereof. The present embodimei'it of the invention has been disclosed merely by way of example since in actual practice it attains the features of advantage eumnorated as desirable in the statement of the invention and the above description. it will be apparent that numerous changes in the details of construction, in the materials, in the sizes, and in the combination and arrangement of parts may be resorted to withoiu: departing from the spiritor scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed or sacrificing any of its advantages.
Having thus described the invention what I claim as new is:--
1. A device of the class described including a container having a bottom provided with, a recess, a cylindrical wick having its lower end seated in the recess, and a top for the container having a channel for receiving the upper end of the cylindrical wick.
2. A device of the class described including a bottom, an annular side wall rising from the bottom, the juncture of said wall and said bottom provided with a series of openings through which ants may pass, said bottom provided with a recess, a cylindrical wick having its lower end disposed in said recess and provided with a fringe overlying the upper surface of the top, and a cover engaged with the wall and having an an nular channel for receiving the upper edge of the wick.
3. A device of the class described including a bottom having a recess, a wick mounted in the recess and extending thereabove and being of a continuous formation to contain liquids, a fringe extending from the wick and overlying the upper surface of the bottom, a wall disposed about the bottom, a cover engageable with the wall and having a seat for receiving the upper edge of the wick.
4. A device of the class described including a container having a base provided with an upper conical surface having a recess in the apex thereof, a cylindrical wick disposed in the recess and extending above the base, said container provided with entrance openings for ants, and a top on the container having a seat for receiving the upper end of the wick.
5. A device of the class described including a container havin a base provided with an upper conical surface having a recess in the apex thereof, a cylindrical wick disposed in the recess and extending above the base, said container provided with entrance openings for ants, and a top on the container having a seat for receiving the upper end of the wick, said wick provided with a fringe adapted to rest on said upper surface of the base.
6. A device of the class described includ ing a base having an upper conical surface provided with a recess at its. apex, an annular wall upstanding from the base, the
juncture of the wall and the base being provided'with openings, a wick of cylindrical construction having its lower end seated in the recess and provided ith a fringe resting on the conical surface, and a cover detachably engageable with the upper edge of the wall and provided with an annular channel for receiving the upper edge of the wick.
