ADVERTISING arracnivin nr Foe CIGAR AND crennn rrn nemas; I
Application filed December 13, 1922. Serial No; 606,631.
To all whom itm-c ry concern:
Be it knownth'at-PAUL J. zenof the United States, residing at Oshkosh, in the county of- W innebago and State of Wisconsin, has invented certain new and useful Improvements in Advertising Attachments for Cigar and Cigarette Holders, of which the following is a-specification.
This invention relates to an advertising attachment for cigar and cigarette holders and has for its'principal object to provide means whereby thename and addressof the owner of the cigar or cigarette holderis CllS played so as to enable thecigar or cigarette holder to be returned'to the rightful owner in case the same is accidentally-lost or inisplaced.
Another important object of the invention is to provide an advertising attachment for cigar and cigarette holders of the above mentioned character, and which may be used for several purposes namely as an advertising medium for the particular cigar or cigarette holder and is of such a constructionas to'enable the various display-cards to be carried by the cigar or cigarette holder at various times; I
A still further object of the invention is to provide a cigar orcigarette holder which will detachably supportan advertising dis.- play deviceand wliichwill. be ornamental when. the same is applied to the cigar or cigarette'holder and' is simple. in construction, inexpensive, strong, durable and- -further well adapted for the. purpose forwhich it is designed. I
Other objectsand advantagesofthis invention will become apparent during the course of the following description.
In the accompanying drawing forming a part of this specification and in which like numerals designate like parts throughout the same z Figure 1 is aside elevation of-the advertising attachment in proper position upon Figure 2 is a perspective view of the adverti'sing attachment. I V
Figure 3 is a longitudinal sectional view taken on line 33 of Fig. 1. I Figure A} is a transverse sectional view,
1 taken on linedl of Figure 3.
In the drawings wherein for the purpose of illustration isshown the preferred embodiment of my invention, the numeral 1 designates a cigar or cigarette holder and Srrrnn, a citi-f is provided wi h theausua-l mouthpiece 2f'at 1 tOFthe cigar'or cigarette holderinianysuitits smaller I end, as shown in the drawings. r The mouthpiece 2 maybe .detachably secured I able manner and I donotYwish-toconfine myself to the manner in'which the same is attachedthereto. .1 1 1 the'enla-rged endof the cigar or cigarette holder to the smaller.- end. thereof as 'inore clearly shown in the drawings.
l Adaptedto-be seated within this longitu- .LThecigarqr cigarette hoder i'is provided. with a tapering longitudinal channeli3: in its outer. face and this channel-extendsfrom idinally extending channel: 8 and fitting snugly therein when in position is; a card holder 4.: This card holder 4: is preferably v formed of any suitable, light metallic ma terial. so as to enable the sameto be bent-to conformto the curvaturezof the cigar or cigarette. holder and this cardholder l is also'tapered so as to permit the same; to
snugly fitwithin the channel 3. Acard' holder 4. which is formed of a single. piece of. material has its opposite longitudinal edges bent laterally and inwardly to form parallel guidefianges5 ,and 6 respectively.
These flanges 5 'and 6 terminate adjacentthe respective, ends of the card holder 4: for the purpose "to be hereinafter morefully def.
scribed. V A memorandum $1110.01 identification card such as isshown at Tin the drawings and isalso provided with long tudinal. tapered sides so as to permit the sameto be received wvith-in-thecard holder 4 is adaptedto be V slidablyreceived' betweenithe flanges .5 and f 6'of the card holder 4' ancl whcn-placed iin'this position is permanently held therein.
After the identification card or memorandum slip 7 has been inserted between. the flanges 5 and 6 in the card holders so as to,
display-the identification card'or other advertising medium the card holder together with the card held therein is placed within the longitudinally extending tapered channel 3 and suitable caps 8 and 9 respectively: are adapted to be fitted on .the respective ends ofth'e cigar or cigarette holder in such amaniier as to firmly hold th free-ends of the card holder 4 in proper position ant. prevent the same from accidentally falling out of the longitudial channel The purpose of providing a longitudinal channel 111 the outer face of the cigar or cigarette holder for receivin the cardholders is to revent the card holder from sliding around the outer face of the cigar or cigarette holder 1 and furthermore will enable the flanges 75 and 6 formed on the opposite longitudinal edges'of the cardholder to protrude slightly i above the outer surface of the cigar or ciga- Vrette holder thereby appearance. 7 I 1 t 7 After the caps have been placed upon the respective ends of the cigar or cigarette holder 1 and the advertising device isfin po- :sition upon the cigar or cigarette holder the I 7 end oithe cigaror cigarett mouthpiece 2 is then inserted in 'the smaller e'holder and is then ready for-use.
7 It will be. readily seen that with a-n ad vertisingattachment of the above nrentioned character-1n position upon a c1gar or ciga rett'ejholder it is possibleand frequently the casev that the same becomes lost and when 7 a person other than the owner finds 'the 4 j 'clgar or cigarette holder hew ll readily see by "the advertising attachment thereon the narnei ofuthe rightful owner and address and he can thereby return the same to hnn. Fur- I therni'orej any advertising med-ru n or memo.-
randuin slip may be inserted uponthe card holder as desired by the person having possession ofthe cigar or clgarette holder;
It will thusibe seen from the foregoing" struction of my improved apparatus, it will be seen that I have provideda simple, inexpensive an d eflicient means for carrying out the objects for" the invention, and whileI haveparticularly described the elements best- 7 adapted to perform the functions set forth,
it is obvious that various changes in form,- proportion and 'inthe minor details ofjconstrnction'fmay be resorted to, ithout dc giving the same a neat,
parting from the spirit or sacrificing any of the principles of the invention.-
lVhat I claim asnew and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. In combination with a cigar or cigarette holder provided. with a'mouthpiece, of a a card holder detachably'j mounted on the said cigar holder, said cardholder provided withflncans forslidably receivi-ng' a. card, and means carried bysaid first mentioned holder 7 for retaining 7 said; card holder thereon.
In combination with a cigar or cigarette holder and a mouthpiecetherefor, of a card holder extending longitudinally on r the said cigar holder, capson theends of the said" cigar holder and receivingthe ends of the said cardholder, and a card held in the saidcard holder. V I
4:.
