To all whom t may concern Be it known that I, EDWIN A. STRATT- MAN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Bogalusa, in the parish .of Washington and State of Louisiana, have .invented certain new and useful Improvements in Jordan-Plug Fillings; and I do declare the lfollowing to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

In the. drawings above brieliy described, the numeral 1 designates a, tapered Jordan the construction being such thatA plug of circular cross section, said plug being mounted upon the Jordan shaft 1 in a suitable manner. The plug 1 tapers graduall toward one end so substantially conical form to wedge tightly into the covering sleeve 2. This sleeve may be provided on its exterior with any suitable grinding means. F or instance, in Figs. l to 5 I have shown straight sharp-edged longitudinal ribs 3, in Figs. 7 and 8 the longitudinal ribs 4 on the sleeve are in the form of transversely curved corrugations, and in Fig. 9 I have shown suitable ribs 5 of spiral or herring-boned form. These three forms of ribs are merely typical of numerous grinding means with which the covering 2 may be provided. Moreover, it may be pointed out that this covering may either be of one piece form as shown for instance in Fig. 9, or may be constructed of two end sections 6 and 7, having interiitting circumferentially spaced lugs 8 on their abutting ends.
The ends of the covering sleeve 2 are provided with circumferentially spaced flatsided lugs 9 which extend beyond the ends of the plug 1 and are of a radial width equal to the thicknessv of the covering sleeve 2. A air of flat annular plates 10 are secured y ca screws or the like 11, to the ends of the gordan plug 1, these plates being provided with circumferentially spaced peripheral lugs 12, which are snugly .received between the lugs 9, the outer edges of said lugs 12 being flush with the peripheral edges of the lugs 9, while the outer sides of said lugs 12 are similarly iiush with the adjacent sides of said lugs 9. The inner sides of the lugs 12 contact with the ends of the covering sleeve 2, between the lugs 9, to hold said sleeve tightly upon the Jordan plug.
By employing the construction shown and described, a very simple and inexpensive means has been provided for detachabl securing the covering sleeve in place andI for establishing an effectual driving connection between this sleeve and the Jordan plug. The sleeve is tightly held upon the 'lug against circumferential creeping as we las against endwise play, yet by'removing the smaller of the plates 10, it will be seen that the covering 2 may be easily removed, whether it be formed of one or more sections.
