Be it known that l, MICHAEL lnoHrMAn,
a citizen ot the United States, and aresident of the city o NeuT York, borough of a Manhattan, in the county and State ot New York, have invented a new and improved rlelescope, ot which the following is a iull,
clear, and exact description.
This invention relates to a telescope and l has for an object to provide a telescope structure Which is simple and compact and economical to manufacture.
JAnother object of the invention residesin the provision of means whereby the plurality of telescoping` sections can he iitted and constructed to slide with respect to one another hy the use ci a minimum number of parts in the construction, -which greatljy7 enhances the simplicity of the device.
A further object resides in the particular construction and arrangements of parts hereina-tter described and claimed and shown in the accompanying drawings.

As shown in the figures the invention comprises a telescope having' an outer telescopic section which is preferably made of some thin light metal, such as aluminum, covered by a layer 11 ot some material such as leather, When desired. The outer end of this section 10 is adapted to receive a ring plug 12 against the end of which a lens 13 is placed. This lens is held in position hy a clamping' ring 14.
The other end of the telescoping section 10 is provided With an inwardly turned iiange portion 15 adapted to form a hearing surtace tor the outer face of an inner telesc0ping section 16 which is made of material similar' to the section 10. @ne end of the inner section 16 is provided with a cap portion 1'? in which a lens 18 may he mounted in connection with a retainingl ring 19 in a manner well known in the art. The other end oit the inner section 16 is provided with an outwardly extending flange portion 2G which is adapted along its outer' edge to lie parallel and contact with the inner surface oi the outer telescoping section 10.
.lt will he seen that as the inner section is pulled out oi and pushed into the outer section 10, the flange portion 2O slides along the inner surface ot the section 10 which forms a hearing therefor, Whereas the flange portion 15 oi-l the outer section contacts with and forms a hearing portion for the outer surface of the inner section 16. By this construction these two sections can slide with respect to each other and are kept in alignment in a simple and eilicient manner. This alignment construction canl be made hy merely pressing the sheet metal of the telcscope section into the proper shape. This sort of manufacture results in an article which can he Avery economically manufactured, and at the saine time compact and elli cient in its operation.
