Specification of Letters Patent.

Application filed January 24, 1919. Serial No. 272,930.

To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, DORR F. LOUooN, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city of New York, borough of Man hattan, in the county and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Drain-Table, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact'd'escription.

The invention relates to drain tables forming a cover for a wash tub arranged adjav With these and other objects in view, the

invention consists of certain novel. features of construction as hereinafter shown and described and then specifically pointed out in the claim.

A practical embodiment of the invention is represented in the accompanying draw.- ings forming a part of this specification, in which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the views.

Figure 1 is a perspective view of the drain table arranged as a coverfor a wash tub and draining into a sink;

The wash tub 14-is normally covered by a cover 20 connected by hinges 21 to the back board 13 but this cover forms no part of the presentinvention.

25 which terminates at the left hand side in an integral spout 16 which extends over the adjacent side of the sink 15 to pass the drain water from the body 25 by way of the spout 16 into the sink 15. This spout 16 has its longitudinal median line located rearward of the median center line of the body 25, that is, the spout 16 is located nearer the rear of the drain table than the front thereof to 1 cause the spout 16 to discharge into the sink 15. It is understood that ordinary sinks are of standard size and are set against the wall, as shown in Fig. 1, and in order to provide sufficient room at the back of the tubs 11 and 14 for thepipe connections of the tubs it is necessary to use back boards 13 made narrower or wider according to exist ing conditions. Thus the tubs 11 and 14 are set a distance from the wall and a drain table 10 with 'the spout 16 at the middle would locate a portion of this-spout beyond the front rim of the sink 15, in other words, the spout 16 would be out of register with the sink. To insure draining of the water by way of the spout 16 into the sink 15 the spout is set ofl rearwardly as above described and plainly shown in Figs. 1 and 3.

The body 25 is provided with a raised margin 30 and the body is furtherprovided with struck-up ribs 31 extending longitudinally and spaced apart, as plainly shown in Figs. 1, 3 and 41. The ribs 31 are flush with the outer side portion of the margin 30 and gradually decrease in height and eventually merge with the body 25 at the spout side of the body. The middle ribs extend onto the spout 16 while the front-and rear ribs terminate a distance from the left-hand portions of the margin 30 so that all the drain water from the articles supported on the drain table readily flows through the spout 16 into the sink 15.

From the marginal edges of the body 25 and the sides of the spout 16 depends a flange 40 of uninterrupted continuity. The lower edge of the portion of the flange 40 depending from the body 25 rests on the upper edge of the wash tub 11 while the lower edge of the portion of the flange 10 at the front and back of the spout 16 rests on the top of the corresponding top of the side rim of the sink 15, as plainly indicated in Figs. 1 and 2. The front portion of the flange is preferably provided with tumblers or cushions fastened by bolts or other fastening means to the said front flange portion to prevent marring of the top edge of the wash tub 11. The rear portion of the flange 40 is provided with apertures for the passage of the bolts 60 engaging the hinges 12 to fasten the latter to the rear portion of the flange 40.

It will be noticed that by providing the body 25 with'the ribs 31 the desired strength is obtained to readily support tableware,

dishes, cooking utensils and the like on the drain table without danger of marring the latter. It Will also be noticed that by arranging the spout 16 in the manner described the drain Water is not liable to drip on to the floor between the sink 15 and the tub 11.

Having thus described my invention, I

claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent As an article of manufacture, a sink drain table made of a single piece of sheet metal and having a body portion provided at one end with an integral projecting flat spout adapted to extend over one side of a sink, the said body being provided With a raised margin and with struck-up spaced ribs extending longitudinally, the ribs being flush with the struck-up margin at one end, gradually decreasing in height and merging with the body at the spout end thereof, the said body and its spout having a depending marginal integral flange of.unbroken continuity, and

hinges secured to the back portion of the flange to hingedly fasten the drain table to a fixed support.
