To all whom it may concern:

Be it known-thatI, HARRY V. MELIOK, a citizen of the United States, residing at Oolim1bus,'in the county of Franklin and State of Ohio, have invented new and useful Improvements in Scoops, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to a scoop for dishing out ice cream and the like from freezers or containers, and the principal object of the invention is to provide means for. removing from the freezer a number of orders simul taneously.

Another object of the invention is to provide means for emptying the bowls or scoops simultaneously or separately, as desired.

The invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically pointed out in the appended claims.

In describing my invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which:

In these views, 1 indicates the frame which is of substantially V-shape and having the webs 2 connecting the legs thereof together.

The frame is provided with a stem 3 to receive the wooden handle 4 and at the junction of the frame and said stem the frame is provided with the wings 5, which are adapted to be engaged by the fingers and thumb. The bowls or scoops 6 are connected together by the web 7, and the said bowls are connected with the enlarged ends 8 of the frame by solder or the like. As will be seen, the mouths of the bowls are arranged on an arc of a circle so that when the device is placed in a freezer the said bowls will conform to the circular shape of said freezer.

Each bowl is provided with a scraper 9 which is of U-shape to conform to the interior shape of the bowl. The scraper is made wider in the middle than at its ends and its edges taper off toward said ends. One end of the scraper is provided with a lug 10 which engages a hole 11 in the outer side of the bowl and the other end of the scraper has secured thereto a toothed wheel 12, which is provided with a small lug 13. This wheel and lug fits in a recess-1A formed in the web 7 In this We y the scraper is rotatably mounted in the bowl. It is only necessary to place the teeth 011 a part of the wheel 12 as the scraper has only to move in a semicircle. Each scraper is actuated by a rack bar 15, which has one end engaging an opening 16 formed in the web 7 and communicating with the recess 1-1, so that the toothed part of said rack will engage the teeth on the wheel 12. The rack bars pass through openings 17 formed in the webs 2 and said bars are reciprocated by the bell crank levers 18, which are pivotally connected to an car 19 formed on the frame. One arm of each bell crank is provided with a slot 20 to engage a pin 21 on the rack bar and its other arm is flattened and enlarged so as to be pressed upon by the thumb when it is desired to operate the scraper. As it will be seen, the thumb-engaging parts of the bell cranks are placed side by side so that both levers can be depressed simultaneously, or one at a time,

as desired.

To hold these scrapers in inoperative position I locate springs 22 on the rack bars between a pair of the webs 2. The ends of these springs bear against one of the webs and their other ends bear against pins 23 carried by the rack bars. In this way, as soon as the thumb is removed from the bell cranks the springs will swing back the scrapers into their inoperative positions.

It will thus be seen that the twin bowls may be filled at the same time and then by operating the levers both bowls may be emptied into one plate, or one may be emptied into one plate and the other into another plate. In this way, a greater number of persons may be served by a single person. Due to the construction of the parts, the bowls are entirely freed of their contents by the scrapers passing over the interior inner surface of said bowls.

What I claim is 1. A device of the class described, comprising a frame, a handle thereon, a number of bowls carried by the frame with their mouths facing in the same direction and means for cleaning the bowls,
