Description
I. NIEWIAROWSKI.
ANGLE SCREW DRIVER.
APPLICATION FILED APR. I6, 1919.
PETER NIEWIAROWSKI, OF OMAHA, NEBRASKA,
ANGLE SCREW-DRIVER.
T0 all whom t may concern.'
Be it known that I, PETER NmwiARowsxI, a citizen of Russia-Poland, residing at Omaha, county of Douglas, and State of Nebraska, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Drivers, of which the following is a specification. This invention relates to improvements in tool holders, and particularly to types which maybe used at an angle relative'to struction and of this disclosure,
their central axis.
Thel principal object of this invention is to provide a tool holding device carrying an operative element, which may be actuated either in a plane coincident with the axis of the handle or at an angle thereto.
This object is attained by the novel concombination of parts hereinafter described, and shown inv the .accompanying drawings, forming a material part and in which- Figure 1 is a partial side elevational, and partial sectional view taken through a tool holder made in accordance with the invention.
Fig. 2 isa fragmentary sectional view lshowing the parts disposed in another-'position, and l Fig. 3 is an end view of the extension element.
head portion 10 formed with two extending' elements, respectively 11' and 12, disposed at a right angle, a chamber 14, being formed in the head element, at the axis of the angles, the chamber having a heavy plate covering 15 extending along the side of the body, and bent at an angle to providea bottom portion 16.
Formed through the angular element 11 is a bored opening 18, in which is fitted a stem 19, having an enlargement 20, resting upon the top of the body element 11, the stem continuing into a shank 21, rigidly engaged in la handle 22, held by a transverse pin 23, the handle being of any preferred shape whatever.
Fixed upon the shank 19, is'a bevel gear 25, its back resting against the wall of the chamber 14, the teeth meshing with 4another gear 26, fixed upon a stem 27 extending outy Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed April. 16, 1.919. Serial No. 290,513.

ward through the opening 28, in the angular element 12, and terminating in an offset shouldered projection 29, which normally extends outward to a slight distance beyond the outer end of the element 12.
Similarly, another offset extension 30 forms the terminal of the shank 19, which extends through an opening in the cover plate 16, and which obviously may be rotated by operating the handle.
Formed in the outer surface of rthe angular element 12 are a pair of undercut openings 32, receptive of the headed pins 33, simi-lar openings 34, being formed through the lower cover plate 16, the pins 33 being .set in the outer end of an ovalor barrel a cylindrical bore 29, and provided with screw threads 37, by which is attached a' hollow cap 38, containing a chamber 39, in which is operatively engaged a pair of spring jaws 40, the same being held by screws 41, within the chamber 42, formed in the handle element 35.
A tool shank 44, is formed with an offset shoulder at its upper end 45, engageable with the Shanks 29 or 30, and is formed with an annular recess 46, receptive of the detent whereby the shank 44 is held shaped handle 35, having in engagement, operating implement, as the screw driver 48 indicated.
From the foregoing it will be seen that a convenient and effective implement has been disclosed, which may tool driver, comprising the combination with a chambered body having two portions perforated atan angle to each other and providing bearings and an aperture opposite one of said bearings, shafts journaled in' said bearings each of them having an be used in `the` ordinary manner as a plain screwdriver or the shank terminating in an y exposed end shapedto eng-Mgel an@ rotate :n ends above mentioned, and means for interblt or-tool and oney ofthem extendmgback; changea-bly engagl-ng said Ameans with `the l through the aperturey and the opposed"bemm loody', in line with eitherof sai'd bit engaglo ing and having a handle on its other end, ing shaft ends..
gearing, connecting the tWo shafts, mea-nsF In testimony whereof I have affixed my for securing or holding :L tool or bit with signature.
