Beit known that 1*,ERNEST H. HEPPE, a citizen of the United States, and a. resident of the eity,c'ounty,and State of New York,

have invented a certain new and useful Im' provement in Display-Cabinets, of which the following is a speei'fication.

The object of this invention is to provlde a device of this character for holding merchandise, particularly veils, or in fact any kind of merchandise that is packed in small packages or envelops, in which a fair amount of merchandise can be carried and displayed effectively. A further object of this invention is to provide a display cabinet which can be manufactured cheaply and yet present a good appearance, and be effective as an advertising medium.

With these objects, and other objects which may hereinafter appear, in View, I have devised the arrangement of parts here inafter set forth, and more particularly pointed out in the claims appended hereto.

Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawing, forming part hereof, in which Figure 1 is a front elevation of my improved display cabinet in closed position;

Fig. 2 is a perspective'view of the same in open position; and

Fig. 3 is a cross sectional view on the line 3-3 of Fig. 1, looking in the direction of the arrows, with the cabinet in open position.

Throughout the various views of the drawings, similar reference characters designate similar parts.

My improved display cabinet may be constructed of cardboard, wood, metal, or of any desired material, according to desires of purchasers. In the preferred embodiment of my invention, as disclosed in the accompanying drawing, 1 indicates the bottom or support of the cabinet. This bottom 1 is substantially rectangular in general outline, and is connected to a back member 2 and two triangular shaped end members 3. The end members 3 are connected on their front or inclined edges by a strip 4, which extends upwardly a short distance, and then terminates, and to the upper edge of this front strip 4 is attached a cover 5, the cover 5 being pivotally attached thereto by a hinge 6. The cover is rovided with side ange 8, and when the cover is in closed position, these flanges 7and8 inclose the open portion of the cabinet between them and effectively prevent the ingress of dirt and dust.

The cabinet provided with a false back 9, which extends downwardly at a very slight angle to, or substantially parallel with, the front strips 4 and the face of the cover 5 attached thereto.

Between the false back 9 and the front strip 4 is a partition strip 10, which extends between the ends 3 of the casing, and this partition strip 10 is connected to the false back 9 by a channel shaped reinforcing strip, which consists of a supporting web 11 having side webs 12 and 13. The web 13 is secured to the partition strip 10 and the web 12 is secured to the false back 9. Thus the false back 9 and the partition strip 10 are spaced apart, allowing packages or envelops of merchandise to be placed between them, and these packages, which are indicated at 14, and shown in dotted lines, rest upon the supporting web 11 of the channel shaped strip, and are thus elevated above the front set of packages 15, which rest between the front strip 4 and partition strip 10.

It will also be seen that the packages 14 and 15 lie at an angle, Owi g to the angular disposition of the false back 9 and partition strip 10, so that any printing on the face of the packages may be read, and further that the elevated position of the rear set of packages allows the printing on their upper ends to be seen readily.

The triangular formation of the device aflords strength and rigidity to the case, allowing it to be made from thin and inexpensive material when desired.

From the foregoing, it is obvious that my invention is not to be restricted to the exact embodiment shown, but is broad enough to cover all structures coming within the scope of the annexed claims.

Having described my invention, what I claim is:

1. A device of the class described, comprising a casing formed triangular in cross section, a cover for the same adapted to extend at an angle to the back, a pair of partition strips within the casing, said strips being at an angle to the back of the casing and substantially parallel to the cover when said cover is in its closed position, the rear partition strip extending from the bottom Copies of this patent may be obtained for when said cover is in its closed position, said cover being pivoted at the upper edge of said strip, a pair of partition strips Within the casing lying substantially parallel to the cover when said cover is in its closed position, and a strip extending between said partition strips and holding the same spaced apart.
