INVENTOR.
Jillz'us Molnar ATTORNEY.
UNITED STATES JULIUS MOLNAR, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
HOLDER FOR TOILET ARTICLES.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Dec. 6, 1921.
Application filed March 25, 1921. Serial No. 455,394.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JULIUS MOLNAR, citiZen of Hungary, residing at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Holders for Toilet Articles, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a holder for brushes, combs or like toilet articles, having more particular reference to a holder or container adapted to be suspended in any convenient place.
The invention has for an object to provide a holder of this type presenting a novel arrangement of pockets and characterized by simplicity and cheapness of construction.
For further comprehension of the invention, and of the objects and advantages thereof reference will be had to the following description and accompanying drawings, and 'tothe appended claim in which the various novel features of the invention are more particularly set forth.
Figure 1 of the drawings is a side elevation of a holder for toilet articles constructed according to the invention.
Fig. 2 is a face view thereof.
Fig. 3 is a face view showing the main blank employed in forming the holder.
Fig. 4 is a detail perspective view showing one of the filler elements employed in forming the various pockets.
Fig. 5 is a similar view of the other filler element.
In constructing my improved container I form a blank, of cardboard or the like, to the shape shown in Fig 3 and comprising a relatively long and narrow body having laterally projecting side flaps at one end thereof, certaln portions of the face of this blank aving gum or other adhesive applied thereto.
As shown at 10 and 11 the adhesive is applied across the blank near the longitudinal center thereof in two spaced strips which are spaced apart a distance equal to the front and rear depth of the holder, the adhesive being extended in two longitudinal strips 12 and 13 toward opposite ends of the blank, the strip 12 extending completely to the end of the blank, while the strip 13, which is of equal length to the strip 12, terminates short of the corresponding end of the blank which may be of ornamental shape as shown and provided with an aperture 14 whereby the holder may be suspended from a suitable hook or nail.
This blank is folded along the adjacent edges of the transverse gum strips 10, 11, the portion 15 between the said strips forming the bottom of the holder, while the portions 16 and 17 to which the gum strips 12, 13 are applied form the front and rear walls of the latter.
Before folding the blank I fit thereon a pair of pocket forming elements 18 and 19 shown in detail in Figs. 4 and 5. Of these, the element 18 comprises a strip of the same material as the main blank and bent to channel shape in cross section, the width of the web of the channel being equal to'the width of the bottom forming portion 15 of the main blank. This element is applied in inverted position and when in position in the finished holder fits between the gummed parts 10 and 11 with the outer faces of its legs contacting therewith and the ends of the legs resting on the blank portion 15. The outer faces of the legs of this element may have adhesive applied thereto as indicated at 20.
The other element is also formed of the same material as the body of the blank and is bent to form the rectangular tube, the edges being overlapped and glued together as at 21. This tube is adapted to be fitted between the main wall members 16, 17 midway between the sides thereof and resting at its bottom on the other element 18, the tube 19 registering with the gummed portions 12, 13 to which it is sealed on opposite sides. The faces of the tube 19 which contact with the gummed portions 12, 13 are shown as supplied with an adhesive 23.
To complete the holder the side flaps 25, which are projected from the blank element 16 in position to register at their lower edges with the top of the element 18, are then folded rearwardly toward the back wall portion 17, these flaps being of a width to leave projecting marginal parts 26 to which adhesive is applied and which are folded on the back face of the wall member 17.
The completed holder thus comprises a central pocket, formed by the element 19, side pockets, inclosed by the flaps 25, and a horizontal pocket at its bottom, open at both ends. The upper end 17' of the back wall 17 extends beyond the tops of the vertical pockets as shown for convenience in mounting the holder.
Having thus described my invention what 5 I claim as new and desire to protect by Let ter Patent of the United States is as follows:
A holder for toilet articles comprising front and rear walls and bottom formed of 10 a single blank, an inverted U-shaped element signature.
