I COMBINATION -GARMENT.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Sept. 23, 1919.
Application filed October 24, 1918. Serial No. 259,513.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, KATHRYN M. KAYE,
- tain new and useful Improvements in Combination-Garments, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to ladies wearing apparel, and is especially designed to constitute a combination dress or gown.
The prime object of my invention is to provide an efficient combination garment, comprising a dress or gown with an abdominal belt and bust supporter connected thereto, said belt having suitable hose supporters secured thereto and depending therefrom, said garment and combined parts being adapted to sit properly and make a neat and shapely fit.
A further object of the invention is to so construct my combined garment as to properly support the abdomen and bust of the wearer who may be disinclined to wear a tight corset, which is undesirable in athletic and domestic pursuits, and said garment may be also utilized with hygienic results in maternity or neglige gowns.
Another object of the invention is to so construct, the bust supporter, which is used in combination with my dress, that the fastening means secured thereto are ada ted to register with and may be readily an detachably secured to suitable means carried by the abdominal belt.
The foregoing and such other objects as may appear from the ensuing description are attained by the combination, arrangement and location of the parts such as hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and particularly pointed out in the claims appended hereto, it being understood that slight changes in the precise form, proportions, and minor details of the construction may be resorted to without departing from the spirit or sacrificing any of the advantages of the invention.
In the accompanying drawings which form apart of the specification it will be seen that:
Figure 1 is a front elevation of a combination garment embodying my invention, showing the dress or gown opened down the front thereof.
Fig. 2 is a front elevation, showing the bust supporter and abdominal belt secured together, but separated from the dress or gown.
Fig. 3 is a front elevation of the abdominal belt detached, and
Fig. 4 is a front view of the bust supporter detached.
Snnilar numerals of reference are employed to. designate like parts throughout the several figures of the drawings. In carrying out my invention, such as illustrated, the numeral 1 indicates the dress or gown made of any suitable material or in any desirable style, to which is attached to ts inner face at the body portion thereof, in any sultable manner, and designated by the numeral 2 as shown bydotted lines in Fig. 1, an abdominal belt 2 of any preferred construction provided near the upper port1on thereof at each side of the vertical center thereof with socket fastenings 4, 4 adapted to receive the snap fastenings 5, 5 carried by the tabs 6, 6, which latter are secured to and are sus ended from a suitable bust supporter 7 provided with an extension 8 at each side thereof, and to the end portion of each extension is secured snap fastenlng means 9, 9 by which the terminals of the said extensions are secured together, and at the upper portion of the said bust supporter, at each side of its vertical center, is secured an inverted Vshaped shoulder strap 10, and to the outer end of each of said straps is rigidly secured a snap fastening 11 adapted to be secured at the back of each shoulder to the socket member 12 at the points shown by full and by dotted lines in Fig. 1, said socket members 12 being secured to the inner side of the dress or gown in any suitable or desirable manner; the depending tabs at the lower portion of the bust supporter and the snap fasteners secured thereto being adapted to register with and fasten within the sockets at the front upper portion of the abdominal belt whereby the said bust supporter and belt are securely held together.
The abdominal belt is provided at its bottom portion at each side of the vertical center thereof with suitable depending hose supporters 13, which are firmly secured to said belt at one end, the other end of the supporters being detachably secured to the upper end portion of the hose 14, whereby the hose are properly supported over the limbs of the wearer.
It will be readily perceived that my abdominal belt may be stitched to theinner face of thedress'or gown, or may :be removably and detachably secured thereto,
also said; belt may bepermanently stitched to ordetachably secured'toa waist lining or 'skirtand at the same timevperform all of the functions for which it is intended; Having thus described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patentis: W I
1. A combination garment comprisin a dress or gown, an abdominal belt secure to the inner face body portion of the dress, a bust supporter. removably secured to the inner face shoulder portion of said dressand to the upper portion of the belt, and hose supporters suspended from the bottom portion of the said belt.
3. A combination arment comprising a dress ongown, an a dominal belt secured to the inner .face body portion of said dress, a bust supporter provided with fastening means secured to tabs depending fromv the bottom of said supporter and, adapted to be detachably secured to said belt, saidsupporter having inverted V-shaped shoulder straps at its upper end provided with securin means at theirouter ends-for attaching the supporter to the rear inner face shoulder portion of the dress. a
4. A combination garment comprising a dress or gown, an abdominal beltsecured to the inner face body portion of the dress,
a bust supporter provided with inverted V-shaped, Shoulder straps at its upper end, each strap having fastening means at its end for; attachment to the rear inner face shouldenportion. of said dress, said supporter also'ihaving depending tabs at its Qtt OIIL; portion carrying fastening means adaPtedtqregister and unite with the securingsmeans car-ried by the belt forcon: necting the b lt and bustsupporter together, and hose'lsupporters suspended from the bottom portion of saidgbelt. i 1 r KATHRYN M.
