Be it known that I, BERNARD LnAnY, a citizen of the United States residin at Woodside, in the county of Queens and rotate of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Clothes-Driers for Hot-Water Boilers; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full clear, and

arrangement of the clothes supporting arms exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

The object of the invention is to provide a simple, inexpensive and efficient attachment for hot water boilers to serve as a clothes drier and designed to support fabrics in proximity to the boiler so as to obtain the benefit of theheat radiated therefrom, the apparatus being of such a construction as to adapt it or any desired portion or number of the members or elementsthereof to be folded thesurface of the boiler soas to afford no substantial projection from the surface thereof; and furthermore to provide an apparatus of the class indicated wherein the constituting elements thereof may be adjusted or arranged with relation to the surface of the boiler so as to suit the positions thereof to the end that the device may be made in stock sizes and forms for application generally to boilers regardless of the particular locations thereof in the roomsin which they are situated; and with these objects in view the invention consists in a construction and combination of parts ofwhich a preferred embodiment is shown in the drawing, wherein:

together in such a relation as to cause the band to tightly encircle and clasp the boiler shown at 11, by means of a bolt 12 engaging openings in outstanding cars 18 and fitted with a thumb nut it, it being obvious that the band may be arranged at any desired height on the boiler to suit the convenience of the operator and adjacent objects in the room or apartment in which the boiler is located.

Carried by the supporting band or strap is a series of elongated boxes 15, of sheet meta or the like between the side wallsof which are'pivotally mounted as at 16 the inner ends of supporting arms 17 adapted to be extended horizontally from the surface of the boiler or to be folded into substantial parallelism therewith as indicated respectively in full and dotted lines in Fig. 2. "When in the pendent or folded position the arms lie between the side walls of the bearing boxes 15, and when extended they are supportedby spring actuated braces 18 consisting preferably of wire loops of which the arms are coiled as at 19 around a transverse pin or rivet20 spanning the interval between the walls of the box near its lower end and having the terminals 21 extended to form hearing seats for contact with the inner wall of The looped end of the brace is forming a transverse seat in the under surface of the arm 17. l

The side walls of the boxes are slotted in transverse alinement as indicated at 22 adjacent to the rear wall for the reception of the supporting strap or band 10, so that the boxes are threaded upon the said strap or band and are adapted to be arranged at any desired portions of the length thereof and therefore at any desired intervals relative to each other, to suit the location in the room or apartment in which the boiler may be arranged. For example if the boiler is arranged against a flat wall the arms may be distributed throughout a semicircle or a greater interval of the surface thereof whereas if the boiler is located in a corner it may be necessary to limit the intervals between the arms or arrange them in more compact relation to afford the necessary capacity of the rack within the interval allowed, but under any circumstances it will be understood that any one or more of the arms may be extended as may be required, and the fixed location of the several arm I supporting boxes is assured by the tension of the supporting strap or band which serves to hold the rear or inner Walls of the boxes in tight frictional contact With the surface of the boiler.

Having thus described the invention, What I claim is v 1. A dryingrack for attachment to a hot Water boiler having a boiler encircling strap or band and means for applying tension thereto to tightly embrace the boiler, bearing boxes threaded'upon saidstrap or band for adjustment longitudinally thereof, drying arms pivotally mounted upon said boxes for swinging movement in a vertical plane, and foldable' braces for securing the arms respectively in their extended relation,'.said braces consisting of looped spring actuated arms and the supporting arms being provided With transverse seats for engagementby the extremities of said braces. 2; A drying rack for attachment to a hot- \vater boiler having a boiler encircling strap or band and means for applying tension thereto to tightly embrace the boiler, bearing boxes threaded upon said strap or band for adjustment longitudinally thereof, drying arms pivotally mounted upon said boxes for swinging movement in a vertical plane, and foldable braces for securing the arms respectively in their extended relation, said braces consisting of Wire loops having their side elements coiled for engagement with a trans verse pin in the box and terminally extended for contact with the rear or inner Wall of the box, the supporting arms having transverse notches in their under surfaces for engagement by said braces.
