.Application flled March 31, 1921.
lTo all whom it mayconcem:
Be it known that I, JAN PIrKo, c1t1zen of Poland, residing at Elizabethport, in the county of Union and State of New Jersey, have invented certain new' and useful Improvements in Combination Furniture, of which the following is aV specification.
This invention relates generally to Varticles of furniture, having .particular reference to articles of furniture WhichV combine several uses.
The invention has for an object, .to pro-..
vide Va piece offurniture in wh1ch are conveniently combined a number of articles which together constitute a substantlally complete house-keeping set as well as recreational means.
For further Comprehension of the inven-. tion, and of the objects and advantages thereof, reference will be had to the following description and accompanylng drawings, and to the appended clanns -1n which the various novel features of the inventlon are more particularly set forth.
Figure 1 of the drawings is a perspective view of a combination article of furniture embodying the invention.
Fig. 2 is a plan view thereof w1th the parts in a different position.
Fig. 3 is a side elevation of the devlce arranged as in Fig. 2.
Fig. 4 is a horizontal section on the line 4--4 of Fig. 3, but showing the parts in a different relative position.
As here shown my improved combinatlon article of furniture comprises two mam casing elements 10, and 11 respectively which are hinged together at one side as at 12, a hook 13 Securing them together at the opposite side.
These two casing elements, when swung together form the unitary rectangular structure shown in Fig. 1 of the drawings, in which structure are combined a number of exteriorly opening or accessible elements.V
Opening outwardly at the front of the structure in the casing element 10 are a plurality of drawers 14 which may contain food or other articles and which may be varied in size as shown to suitably contain different objects, articles or material. Also opening outwardly at the front of casin element is an open-sided drawer 15 upon W ich is supported a gas stove 16.
SlidabIy carried .in .the .casing 11 are a Specification of Letters Patent.

Serial No. 457,310.
pair of seats 18 which are adapted to fit into a recess 19 formed in the casing 10. Hinged to the outer ends of these seats 18 are legs 20 which areswung upwardly to lie under the seats when the latter are moved into the ,recess 19, and swung downwardly to rest on the floor when the seats are moved outwardly to operative position.
I also Vpreferably provide in the top of the casing 11, at the rear of the drawers 141, a compartment 21, closed at the topi'by a hinged door 22,. inwhichcompartment. is placed Va ,phonograph 23.1. At opposite sides of the compartment 21 may be formed other compartments which open at the ends of the casing 11 and may be closed by doors such as 24.
The casing 11 is preferably of less depth from front torear than the casing 10 and has formed therein suitable vertical recesses extending downward from the top thereof in which are accommodated bookcases 25 which may be raised as shown, or lowered to beflush at their tops with the top of the casing. These book-cases may be held in raised position by suitable spring-pressed catches such as 25' which engage over the top of the casing. At the ends of the casing 11 suitable. compartments mav be formed for the reception of any desired objects, and these compartments may be closed by doors such as 29.
I also provide a bed in connection with my ,improved article of furniture, this bed being adapted to be folded up and receivedl in a compartment 30 in the rear or inner wall of casing 11 when not in use. This bed comprises a pair of bed- stead elements 31 and 32, the former being hinged along one side to the inner wall of the casing 11 to swing vertically either to the horizontally extendedposition shown in Figs. 2 and 3, orV a positlon lying against said inner wall as in Fig. 4. The element 32 is hinged to the element 31 as at 33 to fold upon the latter when the same is in the position shown in Fig. 4,' the elements thus folded being received in the compartment 30 when the'two casings are swung together. The elements 31 and 32 bare provided with hinged legs such as 35 for supporting the same when extended as a bed and which are folded thereagainst when not in use.
As will be apparent I have provided a imam article oi :furniture Whih may be Veasily transported from one place to another and which serves all ordinary housekeeping purposes. 'I
Having thus described my'invention what I claim as new and desire to protect by Letters Patent of the United States is asl follows:
1. An' article of furniture comprisingV a` pair of casings hingedtogether along one side, and presenting outwardly opening compartments, one of said casings having a compartment facing on the side thereof, adjacent the other casing, and a bed frame hinged along. one side to the adjacent wall of the other casing; and'adapted'to be accommodatedV inl the saidb compartment Whenl the two casingsV are swungtogether.
2. An article of furniture comprising a pair of casings hinged' together along one side, one ofsaid casings having a vcompartment 'facing on the side thereof adjacentthe other casing,= a bed-stead element hinged.
along one side to the adj'acent wall of the other' casing, a second Vbed-stead element hinged to one end of and adapted to fold secondv bed-stead' element 'hingedto and adapted to fold' upon the .first element', said hed-stead elements-being adapted to be accommo'dated in the said compartment when the twocasings'are swung together', eachl of said bed-stead elements having' legs hinged theretoand adapted.. to be swung thereagainst.y f Y V In testimony whereof haile'affixed my'.
