Description

ROTARY PUMP.
APPLICATION FILED JUNE 23, 1920.
Patented Sept. 27, 1921.
LSQQDQQa MARK) TAw Attorney.
UNITED STATES PATENT. OFFICE.
MARIO TAMINI, 0F MILAN, ITALY.
ROTARY PUMP.
Application filed .Tune 23,
. ner that the water flowsin opposite directions in alternate passages and the delivery outlet or outlets are arranged on the same side of the pump as the suction inlet.
One constructional form of the pump according to the invention is shown by Way of example in the annexed drawing, in-which:
Figure 1 is an axial section on line 1-1 of Fig. 2, and I 0 Fig. 2 is a section through planes at right angles to the pump axis.
Into the inlet pipe a is inserted in well known manner the pump shaft b on which the impeller or runnlng portion is mounted. The impeller is double and comprises two helical blade groups 0 and dseparated from each other by a web -e which fulfils the duty of stiflenlng arms, the two groups of blades with the separating web forming virtually two 115- tinct impellers with centrifugal circulation.
The outer ends of the passages formed by the helical blades within the rotors c and -ddeliver into a peripheral caslng, to which are alternately connected 'sets of guiding passages f and g-. The passages of the two sets run in opposlte directions and are .formed by helical surfaces; the passages of the set f. receive the liquid from the rotor c-- and convey it'into the channels h of the casing by which the rotor -dis fed, whereas the Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Sept. 27, 1921. 1920. Serial No. 391,126.
passages of the set g receive the liquid from the rotor d and convey it to the outlet or outlets iprovided in the caslng.
The priming of the pump can be effected by any known vacuum pump.
aving now described my invention and how the same is to be carried out, what I claim as my invention is:
1. A multiple rotary pump comprising an impeller with two groups of blades arranged one on each side of a central web, a peripheral distributer comprising two sets of passages, one set leading from the outlets of the first. blade group to the inlets of the second blade group, and the other set from the outlets of the second blade group to the discharge, these sets of passages being so arranged that the fluid flows alternately in opposite directions in the two sets and that parts of said passages'lying parallel to the axis of the impeller are located at equal distances from the said axis.
2. A multiple rotary pump comprising an impeller with two groups of blades arranged one on each side of a central web, a peripheral distributer comprising two sets of assages, one set leading from the outlets o the first blade group to the inlets of the second blade group, and the other set from the outlets of the second blade group to the discharge, these sets of passages being so arranged that the fluid flows alternately in opposite directions in the two sets and that parts of said passages lying parallel to the axis of the impeller are located at equal dis tances from the said axis, a suction pipe admitting the fluid,- to the inlets of the first blade group, and a collecting head chamber having delivery pipes connected thereto arranged on the same side as the suction pipe.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature.
MARIO TAMIN I.
