UNITED STIAITE'SI' PATIENT OFFICE. w
DOLPHUS nr women, or POMQNA, ICALIFOBNIA.
' ..D ISPLAY-1 ANEL.QJ.
. To all-whomitmay concerns a Y Be it known I that I, 'DoLrH s M. ToL'roN, a citizen of the UnitediStates, residingat Pomona, in the county of- Los Angeles and State of California, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Display- Panels, of which the following is a speci- This invention relates to means for displaying advertisements and the like in barber shops and similar places, the principal object of the invention being to provide means whereby the advertisements or other display medium may be seen while a person is reclining in the barbers chair so that he ctn read and observe the advertisements while being shaved. I
Another object of the invention is to provide simple and effective means for supporting the advertisements or other display medium without detracting or marring the walls of the shop.
A still further object of'the invention is to provide means whereby the advertisements can be read in the usual side wall mirror when a person is sitting upright.
This invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically pointed out in the appended claims.
In describing my. invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which Figure 1 is a view illustrating one unit of the panel in use.
Fig. 2 is an enlarged faceview of the panel. 1
Fig. 3 .is a view illustrating the assembled device. 7 g
Fig. 4 is a view taken at right angles'to Fig. 3. I
Fig. 5 is an enlarged face view of the assembled device.
Fig. 6 is a horizontal sectional view thereof. 1
Fig. 7 is an enlarged sectional view of the assembled panel.
Fig. Sis a detail perspective reflector section.
In these views 1- indicates a panel which. is formed of a sheet of suitable material view of the Specification-of Le'ttersratent. Patented Se t; 20 1921 ssassins February 23, 1921. Serial has; I I
having a central opening 2 therein with 1 to form supporting means for the back r sheet 5 against which the sheet, 6 containing the advertisements or the like rests. A sheet of glass or other transparent mate'- rial rests upon the sheet6 and has its edges and the sheet containing the advertisements and the glass plate are held in the panel by the flanges 3 and the lugs4.
, This panel containing the advertising matter is adapted to be placed on the ceiling A of a barber shop or the like so that when a person is reclining in the chair B he can observe and read the advertisements on the panel while the vbarber is shaving him. Thus his mind will be occupied so that the time required for the shave will pass quickly and at the same time the articles and merchandise being referred to in the advertisements will be brought to his attention.
The panel can be secured to the ceiling ngaging the flanges3. Thus the backing e in any desired manner and where a metal which are bent atright angles and-passed through holes 11 in one of the flanges 3 of the main panel; Ears 11' are struck from said lugs 10 and bent at right angles to engage the outer face of the flange 3. These parts are soarranged that the mirror and its frame 8 Wlll be held in inclined position, as shown in the drawings, so that it will reflect the advertising matter carried by the main panel into the side-wall mirror so that a I person sitting in the barbers chair can read said advertising matter.
I may place a mirror in the main panel in addition to the advertising matter so that the customer can observe himself being shaved. I
While the device is mainly designed for barber shops it will of course be understood that it may be used in other shops or places where a person spends some time in a rechnmg posit on.
It is thought from the foregoingdescription that the advantages and novel features rcr frame connected with the panel so as to of my invention will be readily apparent.
- I desire it to be understood that I, may 'make changes in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such changes fall within the scope of the appended claims.
WhatI claim is 1; A device of the class described comprising a pa'nelmade in the shape of a frame, means for supporting an'object' in the frame, said panel having sockets in one 7 side thereof and a mirror frame having projections thereon for engaging said sockets for holding the mirror frame in an inclined position relativeto the panel.
" 2. Means for displaying advertisements a barber shop comprising a panel made 7 in theshape of aframe forholding the ad.-
vertisement, means for securing the panel uponi'the ceiling above the chair, and a mirreflect the advertising matter in the panel into a mirror on'the side Wall in front of the chair.
3. A device of theclass described scomi prising a panel having bent u flanges thereon for supporting .a sheet containing advertising matter, a frame vcontaining a mirror, means forsupporting the mirror frame in an inclined position fromthe panel, such means consisting of projections on the mirror frame and openings in the panel for receivmg the ro ect1ons;
' In testimony whereof aflix my signature.
