UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JENNIE H. SOLBERG, OF PORTLAND, OREGON.
ADVERTISING nnvrcn Leeasov.
' Specification of Letters Patent. Patented Feb. 22, 1921.
Application filed June 21, 1920. Serial No. 390,504.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JENNIE H. SoLBERo, a citizen of the United States, residing at Portland, in the county of Multnomah and State of Oregon, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Advertising Devices, 01' which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.
My invention relates to advertising novelties as a class. V v The object of my invention is to provide a device of this class, wherein an attachment is formed and arranged in a manner to allow it to be adjusted upon and secured to a horn, and a picture or advertising matter to be placed in the attachment over the mouth of the horn and also like matter supported in the attachment over the horn. These objects, as well other advantages, I attain by the construction, combination and arrangement of parts shown in the accompany ing drawings, which form 'a part hereof.
Figure 1 is a side elevation of a horn with the device thereon.
Fig. 2 is a front elevation of the same with flag omitted.
Fig. 3 is plan view of the device with flag omitted.
Like characters refer to like parts in the views.
A horn 4:, of common type, like those use at carnivals and celebrations, is illustrated. The attachment or clip 5 is of metal, celluloid Or any desired, suitable sheet material. It is formed to he slipped over the larger end of the horn. It is provided with longitudinal ears or grips 6, which are inwardly pressed longitudinally into engagement with the horn. ears or grips 7, which are'pressed transversely into engagement with the horn. These fasteners secure the clip upon the horn, making it practically integral therewith. The forward end, or diaphragm, of the clip, has an opening 8 therein and a series of smaller openings 9 about the opening 8. The diaphragm also has oppositelydisposed small slots 10 adjacent to the opening 8. An
It will be seen that a campaign picture, or any advertising 'matter, having ears therewardly of the clip and horn.
There are also two other lateral on may be secured upon the rear surface of the diaphragm by passingthe ears through the slots 10 and bending them over. The picture, as illustrated, is then visible for- A small flag is shown in position in the tube 11. A banner or advertising matter of any kind may be substituted in place of the illustrated flag.
' When the picture is secured in place, the clip is'then slipped over the horn and retained there by pressing the ears 6 and 7 against its body. The openings 10 are provided to allow the sound to pass outwardly from the horn to better advantage. The device is intended to provide for a display of desired advertising or other matter, pictorial or of other kinds, in one or more places about the horn, as shown in the drawings. The device may be used at any celebration or event where noise making horns are usually employed. While I have shown a simple method of securing the clip integrally upon the horn, I do not limit myself to the particular means here employed, the main idea being the clip itself upon a horn for advertising or exhibiting purposes. The same statement will also apply to the means for holding the advertising or exhibition matter in and upon the clip, which may be varied without departing from the principle of my invention. WVhile I have stated that the fastening ears may be pressed into engagement with the horn, the material may also be of a character which will supply ears of a springing nature, and when adjusted will spring into engagement with the horn.
I claim In a device of the kind described, the combination of, a horn of common type, a clip having an opening in its forward end with slots adjacent thereto, the clip being adjustable and securable upon said horn with the opening in alinement with the larger end of the horn, and a plate having ears adjustable through the clip slots and securable over the clip opening in a manner to allow display J ENNIE H. SOLBERG.
