Specification of Letters Patent. Patented Oct, 19 1920 Application filed May a, 1919. Serial No. 295,885.
which the following is a specification, the
principle of the invention being herein explained and the best mode in which I have contemplated applying that principle, so as to distinguish it from other inventions.
This invention relates to a stove oven entry and more particularly to a device of adapted for use upon this general character domestic stoves.
The object of my invention is to i provide a door or doors in a door, that is to say, one or more doors of a stove mounted upon another door and adapted to move bodily with it and besides be adapted to have movement independently of it.
Adverting to the drawings Figure I is a front elevation of a do-- mestic gas stove embodying my invention showing all of its doors closed. I
Fig. II is a similar view showing the'pair of small doors open. 7
Fig. III is a similar view showing the larger door opened.
The stove comprises a rectangular frame 1 mounted on legs 2 and provided with a top 3. Interiorly of the frame is an oven 4 having only its front side open. 'Such oven opening is adapted to be closed by a large door 5 hinged to the front of the frame at the two points designated by the reference numerals 6 so that it is adapted to swing downwardly to the position shown in Fig. II, The larger door 5 carries a handle 7.
The door 5 is itself provided withtwo openings 8 each of which is adapted to be closed by a pair of smaller doors 9, hinged each at a pair of superposed points 10 upon the larger door. both provided with handles 11 and, according to the exemplification illustrated by the drawings swing. in opposite directions sub-' stantially transverse to the swinging move I ment of the larger door 5.
The smaller doors 9 are' It is to be understood that I do not mean to confine my invention either to the shape, hinging or relative disposition of thedoors as shown, and the two or more smaller doors could be hinged either along the middle line or at the top or bottom of the large door or instead of being hinged at all could slide past each other.
. As will be readily understood the door arrangement according to my invention enables either unrestricted access to the entire oven space available or to specific divisions thereof.
1. A stove comprising an oven, a vertical partition thereacross, a door carried by said stove'and affording entry to both sides of said partition, and a pair of doors carried by said first mentioned door so as to be movable away from said partition and each affording entry to only one side thereof, said pair of doors being movable in unison with'the first or independently eitherof it or eachother.
2. The combination with a stove oven having a partition forming a pair of laterally adjacent oven chambers, of a main door'for closing said oven chambers and having a portion contacting with said partition, said main door carrying an auxiliary door in a lateral portion thereof affording access to only one of said chambers.
The combination with a stove oven havingseparated oven chambers arranged one alongside of the other, of a main door frame provided with a pair of auxiliary door openings likewise arranged'alongside of a each other, a pair'of doorspivotally mounted on the main door frame and adapted to close said auxiliary door openings.
4:. The combination with a stove oven having a pair of laterally adjacent oven chambers, of a main door for closing both of said oven chambers, said main door having an auxiliary door affording access to only :one of said oven chambers, whereby the heat may be restricted to that oneof said oven chambers to which said auxiliary of A ril, 1919.
