To ali'wiwm it may com'em:
Be it known ll, Res WRIGHT, a citizen of the United States, residing at :Washington, in the District of Columbia,
o'have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Automatic :Pressure-Roll Releases for Clothesfi i ringers, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.
This invention relams to certain new and useful improvements in on automatic pressure roll release for a clothes wringer and consists in providing or clothes Wringer with a fixed top bar having slid-ably mounted boxes normally held in position by pivoted latches arranged to be en aged by operatlevers carried by the frame, when said levers are moved on the pivots, so that the latches will be moved out of engagement to move verti'colly within the top bar to release the pressure means.
Another object of my invention is to provide the boxes with notches which are gagecl by ivoted latches mounted in cutaway portions formed in the ends of the top bar in order to construct a Wr ger with a pressure roll release in which the parts are arranged below the upper surface of the top nor.
(Ether and further objects and advantages of the invention will he hereinafter set forth end the novel. features thereol defined by the nended claims.
In. the t rovsings,
Figure 1" is a side elevation of clothes wringer partly in section showing the application of my improved construction of release thereto;
443 Fig. 2 is a perspective view of my int-- proved construction of release detached iiaerefrom, and.
Fig. 3 is a, horizontal section taken llhrou h the end portion of the to f oor showing the arrangement of the pivoted latch box and bearing sleeve.
Like numerals of reference refer to like parts in the several figures of the drawin in the drowhig, 1 indicates a Wringer frame provided with slotted side hers :2 can rying pressure rolls 3 and t provided with. the usool fiend 6 mounted in suitable arranged within the slotted bars, the upper hearings carrying spring supports 7 upon which pressure saplings 8 with the looses in order to allow the boxes carried by a pressure bar 10.
The frame It is provided with a fixed top bar 11 secured within the slotted side bars 2 at their upper ends, said top bar having verticalbo'res formed therein adjacent its ends which register with notches formed in the ends of the side bars in which are mounted pivoted latches 12 adapted to extend through slots 14 formed in bearing sleeves 15 secured Within the bores of' the top bar and into notches 153 formed in internally threaded boxes 17 which are slidably mountedwithin the bearings 15 in such a manner that the boxes are prevented from rotating The boxes are provided with lugs 13 extending into the slots 19 formed in the bearings 15 for limiting the upward movement thereof as clearly shown in Fig. '2. Mounted within the internally threaded boxes 17 are pressure screws 20 adapted to engage the bearings 9 of the pressure bar 10 for adjusting the pressure on the pressure rolls.
The latches 12 are mounted in the cutaway portions and extend outwardly beyond the end portion thereof in the path of travel of the angular levers 22 which are pivotally mounted on studs '23 carried by the side bars 2 of the Wringer frame in such a manner that when the levers 22 are swung on their pivots, the latches 19 will he engaged thereby so as to oscillate said latches in order to move the inner ends thereof out; 05. the notches 16 of the boxes ill. As the latches 12 are moved out of the notches 16 of the boxes 17, the boxes will be released so as to allow the same to move within the top bar in order to release the pressure means.
lln order to provide means for automatically rocking the levers 22 on their pivots, l arrange the lower end portions 24 thereof in the'path of travel of the upper pressure roll shaft 6 when said shaft is moved vertically by the separation of the pressure rolls 3 and 4 From the foregoing description, it will he seen that I have provided a clothes Wringer with slidahly mounted non-rotatable boxes carrying pressure screws for adjustin the pressure means which ore normally he d in predetermined position within the top bar of the Wringer frame by pivoted latches mounted in cut-away portions of the top oar which are engaged by levers actuated by one are mounted engaged by hearing plates 9 of the pressure roll shafts when said pres sure rolls are separated.
1. A clothes \i'ringcr, comprising a frame having pressure rolls and pressure means for said rolls mounted therein, a top bar fixed in said frame having slidahly mounted non-rotatable boxes at the ends thereof, said top bar-havingcut-away portions, pivoted latches mounted in the cut-away portions for holding said boxes in predetermined position within said top bar, levers mounted on the side bars of said frame having portions arranged in the path of travel of one of said pressure roll shafts on the separation of said rolls, said latches having portions arranged in the path of travel of said levers for moving said latches out of engagement I with said boxes for releasing said pressure means.
2. A clothes Wringer, comprising a frame having pressure rolls and pressure means for said rolls mounted therein, a top bar fixed in said frame having vertically disposed bores at each end and cut-away portions communicating with said bores, hearing sleeves fixed in said bores having slots registering with the cut-away portions of said top bar, non-rotatable boxes slidably mounted in said bearingsleeves having notches, pivoted latches mounted in the cuta ay portions of the top bar adapted to extend into the notches in said boxes for holding said boxes in predetermined position within said frame, and levers pivotally mounted -on the side bars engaging said latches for moving said latches out of the notches of said boxes for releasing said boxes on the separation of said pressure rolls.
3.' A clothes Wringer, comprising a frame having pressure rolls and pressure means for said rolls mounted therein, a top'loar fixed in said frame, non-rotatable slidably mounted pressure carrying boxes carried by said top bar, pressure screws mounted in said boxes for adjusting said pressure means,
. said top bar having'cut-away portions at its said boxes in predetermined position within said frame, pivoted levers mounted on the side bars of said frame adapted to move said latches out of said notches for releasing said boxes, said levers having portions arranged in the path of travel of one of the pressure roll shafts on the separation of said rolls.
4. A clothes wringer, comprising a frame having pressure rolls and-pressure means for said rolls, slidably mounted non-r0tatable boxes arranged in said frame, pivoted latches mounted in said frame for holding said boxes in predetermined position therein, and means actuated by the abnormal separation of said pressure rolls for moving said latches in position to release saidhoxes.
A clothes wringer, comprising .a frame having pressure rolls and pressure means for said rolls, slida ol3 mount-ed non-rotatable boxes carriedj hy said frame, pivoted latchesinounted 'iii'said frame for holding said boxes in predetermined position, and levers engaging said latches on the abnormal sepa 'ation of said pressure rolls for allowing said boxes to move Within said frame to release said pressure means.
