The object of the present invention is to provide an improved form of cabinet iron.- ing board which is simple and compact in construction and adapted to be built in or attached to a wall in such a manner as to present a neat, attractive appearance, and particularly to provide a novel form of link structure which will form a rigid support relates to a cabinet ironing and permit the use oi a main ironing boardv and a sleeve board. h

The invention consists of the parts and the construction and combination oi parts as hereinafter more fully described and claimed, having reterence to the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view ci the cabinet, showing the ironing boards extended. Fig. 2 is a vertical central section, partly broken away, showing the link connections between the boards and the cabinet. Fig. 3 is a perspective view ot" one oi the stop plates.

Referring to the drawings in detail, A indicates a cabinet which may be built in, or attached to, a wall. The cabinet proper is provided for the purpose of lcontaining a large ironing board indicated at 2 and a smaller sleeve board 3. Theseboards are so mounted that they may be swung about the link supporting member shown to assume a vertical position interior ofv the cabinet or the horizontal position shown in Fig. 1. The cabinet proper may be provided with a door not here shown, to present as neat and attractive appearance as possible.

The link connections between the boards and the cabinet forms the main feature of the present invention and these are constructed and arranged as follows: Pivotally secured to the inner sides of the cabinet as at 4, one to each side, is a pair of comparatively short links 6 and secured to the inner end of the main board by means of screws passed through openings 7 is a pair of sideplates 8, on the inner ends of which are formed outwardly projecting lugs 9. rllhe outer ends of the link 6 are pivotally attached as at 10 to the side-plates 8 near their outer ends and thus form a connection between the inner end ot the board and the side wallsoi the cabinet. Pivotally secured to the side Walls of the cabinet, a suitable distance below the links 6 as at 11, is a pair ci links 12, the upper ends of which are pivotally secured to the board 2, approximately mid-way oi its ends as at 13, by meanso a rod 14 or any other similar connection. The links 12 form outwardly eX- tending braces which support the board in the horizontal position shown in Fig. 1, while the inner links 6 form stop members lwhich prevent further upward movement of the inner end of the board when it is swung outwardly from the cabinet. This upward movement of the inner end is prevented by means of the lugs 9 which engage the underside of the links d, rlhe upper sleeve board indicated at 3 -is provided with links 6 and v 12 similar to those described in connection with the main board 2, the. only diderence being that they are secured to two cleats ,15 secured to the rear panel of the cabinet. This mounting permits the smaller sleeve board to told inwardly to a vertical position where it will snugly rest against the rear panel in a position where it will not intertere with the main board 2 when this is swung back to vertical position about the inner link 6. The inner pivotal connections securing-the links '6 and 12 of the main' board to the sides of the cabinet are positioned exterior of the cleats 15 and will therefore cause the main board 2, when swung upright to assume a position exterior of the sleeve board Sand the cleats 15, the mainboard being secured in this upright positionby means of a spring catch 16 engageable with the outer end of the board.

rlhe device as a whole is simple and compact in construction and occupies comparatively small `wall space as one board stands parallel with 'relation to the other when assuming an upright position: rllhe link structure shown forms a rigid support for the boards when extended and are so simple in construction that the housewife or anyone not familiar with mechanics can operate same. ile the link structure here shown is particularly described and operable in connection with ironing-boards, it is obvious, that it may be employed for wall seats or foldable shelves and like devices not here shown.

The materials and finish of the several parts of the invention may be such as the judgment and experience of the manufacturer may,7 dictate.

I wish it understood that various changes in form, proportions and minor details of construction may be resorted to within the scope of the appended claims and that I do not wish to limit myself to the specific design and construction here shown.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim and desire .to secure by Letters Patent is- 1. The combination with a cabinet having a supporting member-foldable into, and out of, the cabinet, of a pair of link members pivotally secured at one end to the sides of the cabine't and having their opposite ends pivotally secured to the sides ofthe supporting member near its inner end, a second pair of links pivotally secured tothe sides of the cabinet and having their opposite ends pivotally secured to the supporting member approximately central thereof, and a stop member on the supporting member engageable with the first named links to secure the supporting member 'with relation to the links when in-a horizontal position.

2. The combination with a cabinet having a supporting member 4foldable into, and out y of, the cabinet, of a link member pivotally secured at one end to tbe cabinet and having the opposite end pivotally secured to the supporting member near it's inner end, means pivotally mounted on the cabinet, below the first named link, and having pivotal connection with the supportin member approximately central thereof or supporting said members horizontally, and a stop member on the supporting member engageable with the link to secure the supporting member with relation to the link when in a horizontal position. 3. 5. The combination with the ironing board, the cabinetA and the inner and outer links supporting the board with relation to the cabinet of a pair of side-plates secured to the inner end of the board and an outwardly extending lug on each side plate engageable with the inner links.
