WALKING-STICK STOOL.
Application led J'une 4, 1913;
To all whom t may concern Be it known that I, CHARLES JAQUET, a subject of the German Emperor, and residing at Knigshofen, Strassburg, Alsace, German Empire, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in 1Walking-Stick Stools, of which the following is a specification.
rIhe present invention relates to an improved portable stool, whose staff is constituted by a hollow walking-stick, adapted to contain an umbrella, or the like, and which carries on its exterior swing sup porting-arms, fastened by means which do no obstruct the interior of the stick, said arms ordinarily lying snugly against the latter, but when vsplayed forming respectively a stool-leg and a seat-support.
Certain embodiments of the invention are illustrated in the accompanying drawings.
Figure l is an elevation and Fig. 2 a plan of one form of construction of the new walking-stick stool, and Fig. 3 shows the same folded together. Fig. l is a fragmental plan View, illustrating a modified form of the seat. Fig. 5 is an elevation and l Fig. 6 a plan of a second form of the improved stool, and Fig. 7 shows the same collapsed.
Referring more particularly to Figs. 1-3, there is slid over the cane, combination umbrella walking-stick, or the like, a., a detachable sleeve b, to which there is jointed at Z, a support c, each limb of which is channeled in such manner that the support can be turned into alinement with the stick a, which is then embraced by the same, as shown in Fig. 3. The lower limb of the support o constitutes a stool leg, while the upper limb has forged, welded or otherwise attached to its top end lugs Z for the connection of foldable arms e, adapted to support a collapsible triangular seat f, yindi- Specication of Letters Patent.

cated by broken lines, and which may be of leather, fabric, or other suitable ma- The back corner of the seat is fastened to a ring or collar Z on the stick at. Instead of the arms e and seat f, a number of arms g might be radially disposed with the aid of a collar 7L or the like provided at the top of the support c, in place of the lugs d, as shown in Fig. 4l. The lower ends of the stick a and supporte may be provided with hingedrspurs i, to prevent the same from sinking into soft ground. When the stool is not in use the whole of the parts may be folded together as shown in Fig. 3, the seat f being if desired removed.
In the modification shown in Figs. 5-7 the two integral limbs c ofthe first construction are replaced by two independent limbs c1, each jointed to a detachable sleeve b1 at 701. These two limbs c1 are troughshaped, so that they may fold compactly Vagainst the cane a, in similar manner to the limbs c of the previous construction. The foldable seat-supporting arms e are jointed at d to the top end of the Vupper limb c1.
Having thus described my invention, `I claim as new A combination stool, cane and umbrella, comprising in combination, a cane, a dctachable sleeve adapted to be secured to said cane, a support pivotally secured to said sleeve consisting of two limbs and provided with channels in each of said limbs adapted to embrace said cane when turned upon the same, foldable arms connected to the end of one of said limbs, a collapsible `seat secured with its front end to said arms,
a ring on said cane, to which the rear end of said seat is secured, substantially as described and for the purpose set forth.
In testimony whereof I afIiX my signature. A
CHARLES JAQUET.
