Be it known that I, EnwARo S. SMITH, a

citizen of the United States, residin at l lowing` is a specification.

This invention has relation to improvements in the cuff portions of such garments as shirts. Briefly, the gr atest wear in connection with the use.of such garments as shirts is on the cuffs due to the frequent soiling, and consequentlyT repeated laundrying thereof and as the wearing out of the cuff portions renders the future use of the garment substantially useless, it is the object of this invention to provide a garment having a binary or double cuff so arranged that when they are simultaneously used the face of one of the members only is exposed to wear and soiling, provision being made to permit the infolding and temporary holding of the used or soiled portion within the sleeve while permitting the full and free use of the unused companion member as desired.

In other words the invention contemplates ar garment provided with twfo cuffs substan-Y tially alike and normally adapted to nest or""' lie one within `the other and similar in -all respects, and so arranged that when ordinarily used the inner cuff is folded back over the outer cuff, and when the inner cuff which receives the wear or is soiled it is folded inwardly against the inside of the sleeie and there fastened permitting the use of the outer cuff in the usual manner and by this means prolonging the life of the shirt or garment by reducing the number of times that laundrying of the garment is required and enabling the user to wear the garment longer without relaundrying.

With the foregoing and other Qbjects in` view, the invention consists in the novel construction, combination 'andarrangement of parts constitutin the invention to be hereinafter specifcal y described and illustrated in the accompanying drawings which form a' part hereof wherein is shown the preferred embodiment of the invention, but it is to be 'understood that changes, variations and modifications can be resorted to which come within the scope of the matter hereinaftr claimed.

Referring to the drawings in detail the reference numeral l denotes the end of the sleeve of somegarment such asa shirt to which cuffs are customarily attached and provided with the usual slit 2. This sleeve is ,furthermore provided on its inner faces with holding means such as buttons 3 and 4.

In ordinary practice the two members 5 and 6 will initially be folded back in unison'and simultaneously as yshown in Fig. 2 to permit the positioning of a cuit' button through the registering openings 7 and 8 for holding the cuff in shape as is the usual practice thereby causing the inner face of the inner cuff 6 to form the outer or wear resisting portions of the entire cuff unit when in use. When soiled or worn the inner cuff 6 is bent back or infolded iiatwise against the inner face of the sleeve and there held in place by interengaging the buttons and 4 -with the b` non holes 8 as shown in Fig. 3.
