WATCH-REPAIRING DEVICE.
Specification of Letters Patent.

To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CLAUDE E. PARKER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Oilton, in the county of Greek and State of Oklahoma, I have invented new and useful Improvements in Watch-Repairing Devices, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to devices for holding the main springs ofWatches and for assisting in transferring a main spring to a watch barrel when repairs are to be made.
One object of the invention is to produce a device of the class described in which a main spring may be conveniently kept in properly coiled condition until wanted for use.
A further object of the invention is to produce a simple and eflicient device of the character'described which will facilitate the placing of the main spring in the barrel without its being touched by the hands of the operator.
A further object of the invention is to produce a simple and improved container in which a main spring may be placed at the factory, enabling a large quantity of springs to be conveniently handled and utilized.
With these and other ends in view which will readily appear as the nature of the invention is better understood, the same consists in the improved construction and novel arrangement and combination of parts which will be hereinafter fully described and particularly pointed out in the claim.
In the accompanying drawing has been illustrated a simple and preferred form of the invention, it being, however, understood that no limitation is necessarily made to the precise structural details therein exhibited, but that changes, alterations and modifications within the scope of the claim may be resorted to when desired.

The improved container of the present invention is composed of a cylindrical wall 15 and a movably supported bottom member 16. The wall member 15 is provided at its lower edge with an interior annular flange 17; the
The spring 21 is provided near the outer end thereof with a plate 22 which may be riveted upon or otherwise connected therewith, said plate being provided with tongues 23 that extend upwardly and downwardly with respect to the spring.
The spring barrel 2 1 is in the main of ordinary construction, being provided on the inner face of its side wall with a projection which is termed the spring hook 25, the same being adapted for engagement with the eye or opening 26 customarily formed near the outer end of the spring. The bottom of the spring barrel is provlded, adjacent to the side wall thereof, with a slot 27 adapted to receive one of the tongues 23. The top of the spring barrel which is designated by 28 is provided in the marginal edge thereof with a notch or recess 29 corresponding to the slot 27 in the bottom of the spring barrel and adapted to receive one of the tongues 23.
In the operation of this invention, the spring 21 is placed in coiled condition in the receptacle formed by the members 15 and 16, one of thelugs 23 being permitted to project through the slot 20 in the marginal edge of the bottom member, 16. When the spring is to be transferred to a watch barrel, the top of the latter is removed, as Well as the old spring. The container in which the new spring is held is now placed in inverted position on the watch barrel it being so proportioned that it will rest on the shoulder 30 of the barrel which normally supports the barrel head 28. It is also obvious that the spring must be turned to such a position that the tongue 23 which is exposed upwardly with respect to the container will be in a position to enter the slot 27 in the bottom of the barrel. By a slight pressure on the bottom member 16 the spring will now be transferred from the container to the Watch barrel, the hook 25 engaging the eye or opening 26 in thespring. The barrel 1s now in condition to receive the spring arbor and the head which are assembled therewith in the customary manner.
