CALENDAR-SUPPORT.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented June 11, 1918.
Application led March 13, 1918. Serial No. 222,198.
To all whom it may concern.'
Be it known that I, GEORGE ALLEN TuckiunLD, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Independence, in the county of ac kson and State of Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Calendar-Supports, of which the following is a specification.
y invention is an improvement in pads, and has for its object to provide a device of the character specified wherein a suitable support is provided having its upper surface inclining downwardly toward one end, and having means at the other end for supporting a roll of paper, and means on the said upper face for guiding the strip of paper along the upper face, the said guiding means adjacent to the roll support Acarrying a mounting for a calendar support.
In the drawings:
Figure l isha perspective view of the improved pad;
Fig. 2 is a longitudinal vertical section.
In the present embodiment of the invention, a suitable support l is provided, the said support being in the present' instance a lock of wood or the like, having the upper face thereof inclined toward one end, and at the opposite end the block -is recessed, as indicated at 2, on its under side, to form at the recessed portion a projection or shelf 8, beneath which the roll carrying the strip 4 of paper is adapted to be supported.
This roll 5 is supported by arms 6 of wire or the like, the said arms being connected to the opposite sides of the block as indicated at 7 to hold the roll which is beneath the shelf 3. Upon the upper face of theblock at the lower end thereof a guide 8 is provided, the said guide being in the form of a keeper extending transversely of the support, and the paper is adapted topass beneath the guide. At the upper end of the block is a plate 9, which is provided at its Copies of this patent may be obtained for rounded, a roll ve cents each, by Washington, D. C.
opposite side edges and near one end with depending ears 10, which are secured to the support as shown, to hold the plate in spaced relation with respect to the upper face of the support.
This late carries at its upper end a calendar pa 11 and at its lower end belowthe calendar pad carries a business card 12 which may be, if desired, covered with a sheet of transparent material, as, for instance, celluloid or the like.
In use, the end of the strip ofpaper is drawn over the upper surface of the support, passing beneath the plate 9 and the keeper 8, and it will be obvious that that portion of the strip between the keeper and the plate is accessible for memoranda. When a notation is completed the portion of the strip bearing such notation may be drawn downward beneath the keeper 8 until the writing is clear of the paper, when that portion of the strip may be easily torn away, leaving a clean portion accessible. This may be continued until the stri is exhausted, when it may be rey a new strip. It will be noticed that the end of the shelf above the recess 2 is rounded, that is, the free end of the said shelf.
I claim:
A device of the character specified, comprising a support having an inclined upper face and having at the high end of the support a longitudinally extending shelf having a continuation of the upper surface and having that end remote from the support supported beneath the shelf and adapted to carry a strip of keeper at the lower end of the support on the upper face thereof, and a plate provided with means for supporting a calendar connected to the support at the upper end and forming a keeper at said end for the strip of paper.
