WASHTUB COVER.
APPLICATION FILED JUNE 21, I916.
Patented June {1, 1918.

WASHTULB-COVER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented June 4, 1918.
Application filed June 21, 1916. Serial No. 105,033.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Gnonen P. MORELL, a citizen of the United States of America, and resident of Bronx, New York city, in the county of Bronx and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Washtub-Covers, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to metal wash tub covers and particularly enamel metal wash tub covers.
An object of this invention is to provide a seamless cover of the character noted which, for the purposes of sanitation, is formed with a rolled rim and rounded corners to obviate undue collection of foreign substances therein and to facilitate its cleaning when such cleaning is necessary and to prevent enamel from cracking and chipping at corners.
A still further object of this invention is to provide a cover of the character indicated having protectors or bumpers so that injury to the enamel of the wash tub to which the cover is applied is obviated, when the said cover is manipulated during its application to or removal from the wash tub.
A still further object of this invention is to provide a cover which can be conveniently hinged in place so that the joint between the hinge and the cover is strong and durable as well as effective.
With the foregoing and other objects in view, the invention consists in the details of construction, and in the arrangement and combination of parts to be hereinafter more fully set forth and claimed.
In describing the invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawings forming part of this specification wherein like'characters denote corresponding parts in the several views, and in which Figure 1 illustrates a plan view of a cover embodying the invention;
Fig. 2 illustrates a side elevation thereof, Fig. 3 illustrates a sectional view on the.
line 3-3 of Fig, 1 and Fig. 4 illustrates a sectional view on the line 4.L of Fig. 1.
In these drawings 5 denotes the bod of the cover which is formed of a single s eet of metal 6 the side flanges stamped integral with the body, the said flange and body having a curved surface 7 at their junction, so that, as stated heretofore, there is little or no likelihood of the collection of foreign substances and should they collect they can be readily removed by reason of the uninterrupted surface between these two parts. The flange of one side has apertures 8 for the bolts or fastenings 9 by which the hinge 10 is connected to the cover, the hinge 10 having a flanged portion 1O extending parallel with the side of the flange 6 and provided with apertures to receive the said fastening. The flange on the other side has apertures such as 11 for the reception of bolts or fasteners 12 by which a rubber buffer or bumper 13 may be secured to the inner surfaces of the flanges, it being the purpose of the invention that such bumpers shall come in contact with the enameled tub to which the cover is applied to prevent injury of the enamel when the cover is closed.
By reason of the fact that the cover and flanges are integral structures formed with a rolled rim and rounded corners, they may be stamped from a sheet of metal or bent or shaped at a single operation, thus minimizing the cost of production of such covers.
I claim:
In a one piece metallic wash tub cover having seamless corners, downwardly projecting edges having perforations therein, bolts adapted to be passed through certain perforations, a bumper secured to the cover by said bolts, means for hingedly connecting the cover to the tub, and bolts passing through other perforations on the opposite edge of the cover for securing the last mentioned means to the cover.

Hereby enters and makes this disclaimer to that part of the claim in the specification of said Letters Patent which is in the following Words, to Wit:
In a one piece metallic Wash tub cover having seamless corners, downwardl projecting edges having perforations therein, bolts adapted to be passed through certain perforations, a. bumper secured to the cover by said bolts, means for hingedly connecting the cover to the tub, and bolts passing through other perforations on the opposite edge of the cover for securing the last mentioned means to the cover.
