Be it known that I, JULIAN B. Bnn'rrrovnn, a. sub ect of the Czar of Russia, residing at New York city, county of Bronx, and State supporting in an orchestra of a relatively light musical instrument so that ready access may be had thereto when occasion requires. And to this end the invention resides in pro- -viding a suitable instrument holder and in adapting this for connection to a music stand.

Other objects will appear and be better understood from that embodiment of my'invention of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings forming part hereof, and in which:

The holder (6 is detachably connected to the standard 5, and in effecting the connection between the holder and the standard re gard is had for the type of instrument to be held; the manner in which it is to be supported; and the position it will occupy with respect to the musician when supported in the holder, to the end that the instrument will not contact with surrounding objects and ready access thereto permitted.

The various types of instrument holding 'bi'ackets which may be used with this invention are detachably connected to the said bracket arm 14, and for this" purpose they have their ends adapted to be removably secured in any of a plurality of openings 17 in the said arm. A notch 18, in the outer end of the said arm is disposed so as to cooperate with certain of these openings to hold the instrument holding bracket against rotating when found desirable.

In Fig. 1, I have shown an instrument holding bracket consisting of an oblong body portion 19, with a projection at its middle that extends into one of the open ings l7, and provided at its ends with U shaped clips 2020, so proportioned as to frictionally bind on an instrument such as a flute or clarionet 21, when this is arranged as shown in the said figure. In Fig. 2, I have shown a plurality of instrument holding brackets connected to bracket arm 14. The bracket 22, is an annulus provided with a radial arm 23, which has a right angular end extension indicated by 24, in Figs. 2 and 5, which adapts the bracket 22, to be swung when connected to bracket arm 14, bracket 22, is also adapted for engaging with the pegs of a violin when the same is arranged to hang vertically downward from the bracket, or the mute of a horn may be supported by bracket 22. Spring clips 30, 31, are arranged at opposite ends of body 28, and are adapted for iolding one or more relatively long and thin instruments which may be of the kind inclicated by 21, in Fig. 1. In the present instance I have shown each clip as having two instrument holding compartments which result from forming the clips with vertical lingers 3:2, disposed between the sides of the clip. The bracket indicated by 33, in Figs. 2 and i, is in the form of a hook and may be employed for supporting a trombone. The engaging end of this bracket is right angular incontour as indicated by 34, and is insertible into theouter of the opening 17, and into the notch 18, and when so disposed is held against swinging movement.

From the foregoing it will have been observed that the device of this'invention by reason of having the various parts thereof detachably connected one to the other may be readily packed in a musical instrument case together with the instrument. What is claimed as new is:

An instrument holder for music stands comprising a clamp; which engages the standard of the music stand and having in one end a vertically disposed non-cylindrical socket, disposed laterally of the standard and spaced therefrom, an elongated and fiattened bracket arm disposed radially of the standard and having one end downturned and removably inserted in said socket, the said bracket arm being provided withspaced openings and having its outer end provided with a notch, instrument holding brackets associated with the bracket arm and having portions removablyreceived by the openings in the bracket arm, one of the instru ment holding brackets being further pro vided with an additional portion detachably receivedby the notch in the outer end of the bracket arm.
