Specification of Letters Patent.

To all whom it may concern:
Beit known that I, RUDE S'rocKINGna, a citizen of the United States, and resident of Manitowoc, in the county of Manitowoc and State of lVisconsin, have invented certain new and useful Im )rovements in Electric Vibrators; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof.
My invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in vibrating devices, and refers more particularly to such devices particularly adapted for vibrating pattern plates disposed in molds, whereby the plates may, upon vibration, be disengaged from the sand of the mold to permit ready withdrawal of the plates.
It is primarily the object of my invention to provide a vibrating device which is of exceedingly simple and compact nature, and the present invention consists essentially in the provision of an electromagnet carried by a flat leaf spring and adapted to be successively energized and deenergized upon passage of successive electric impulses through said electric magnet, to procure vibratory movement of the magnetic body to thus exert a series of taps upon a suitable base, it being appreciated that the principle involved may be applied in many other instances than in Vibrating pattern plates of molds.
The invention resides essentially in the manner of resiliently supporting tie magnetic body from its magnetic base plate. and with the above and other objects and advantages in View, which will appear as the de scription proceeds, my invention resides in the novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts, substantially as hereinafter descibed and more particularly defined by the appended claims, it being understood that such changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed may be made as come within the scope of the claims.
In the accompanying drawings 1 have illustrated one complete example of the physical embodiment of my invention constructed according to the best mode I have so far devised for the practical application of the principles of my invention, in which Figure l is a view partly in section, and partly in elevation, the same being taken associated with the mold. Non-magnetic metallic supporting members 7 are riveted or otherwise secured, as at 8, to this base plate 5, and connecting their outer ends is a resilient flat leaf spring member 9. This leaf spring member 9 has riveted thereto near its ends the flanges 10 formed upon the outer plates 11 of the laminated core 12, and these outer plates also have their inner ends formed with the lateral flanges 13, the leaf spring and flanges 10 having near their outer ends the slotted openings 1% through which pass the fastenings 15 for securing the springs upon the support 7. Surrounding the core 12 is a spool member 16 of fiber or the like carrying the magnet windings 17.
From the foregoing description taken in connection with the drawings, it will be readily understood that upon the passage of successive electric impulses through the electromagnet, the core or armature 12 with the magnet windings surrounding the same, will vibrate rapidly and thus exert a series of taps upon the base 5 as will be apparent to those skilled in the art to which an invention of this character appertains.
What is claimed is l. A vibrator comprising a magnetic base plate, including means for detachably securing the same to work material, spaced nonmagnetic supporting members having their inner ends fixed to the base plate, a flat spring member connecting the outer ends of the supporting members, a laminated core having its outer laminae laterally flanged and forming part of the outer ends of said spring member, and magnet windings surrounding the core substantially as described.

A vibrator comprising a magnetic base plate having means for detachably securing the same to work material, a supporting member carried by said base plate, a laminated core, one lamina of said core being laterally bent and secured to the supporting member to resiliently urge said core from the base plate, and magnet windings surrounding the core.
3. A vibrator comprising a magnetic base plate having means for detachably securing the same to work material, supporting members carried by said base plate, a laminated core disposed between said supporting members, two laminae of said core being bent laterally in opposite directions and secured to the supporting members to resiliently urge the core from the base plate, and magnet windings surrounding the core.

A vibrator of the class described comprising, in combination, a magnetic base plate, a pair of upstanding, spaced, parallel, non-magnetic supporting members having their inner ends fixed to said base plate, a laminated core, the outermost laminae thereof being of greater length than-the inner laminae and having their ends directed laterally in opposite directions whereby to form upper and lower pairs of lateral arms, the upper pair of arms being longer than the lower pair of arms, magnet windings surrounding the core and confined between said upper and lower pairs of arms, a transverse spring member secured to said upper pair of arms to form a leaf spring provided a with slots near its ends, andmeans engaging said slots and said up-standing supporting members whereby the core and magnet windings thereon are resiliently urged from the base plate substantially as described.
