Be it known that I, STEPHEN SCHWARTZ.,

a citizen of the United States,residing atl f Cleveland, in the county of Cuyahoga and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Fountain-` lfaucets, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to improvements in fountain or drinking faucets, the primary object of the invention being to provide a generally improved sanitary drinking fau-` cet of simple, cheap, and efficient construction, and particularly designed and adapted for use in lieu of the ordinary faucet whereby the necessity for the provision of a drinking cup may bedispensed with. A further object of the invention is `to provide a combined fountain and filtering faucet adapted to be attached to an ordinary faucet valve body in lieu of the spout 0r nozzle portion thereof, the fountain cup or spout being rotatably inounted'whereby the same is adapted in its normal or depending position for use as an ordinary nozzle or discharge spout, and when it is desired to use the saine as a drinking fountain the ro` tatably mounted fountain cup or faucet may be turned to a reverse orvupstanding vertical position, thus directing the discharging stream upwardly in fountain form.

With the above mentioned and other ends in view, the invention consists in the novel construction, arrangement, and coin-y bination of parts, hereinafter described, illustrated in one of its embodiments in the accompanying drawings, and particularly pointed out in the appended claims.

In the present embodiment of my inven-l tion I have shown the same designed and adapted for "use as an attachment in con# nection with an ordinary faucet valve body 1,-to be used in lieu of the ordinary dis` charge spout or nozzle. Theimproved fountain or drinking faucet comprises avalve stem or pipe 2, terminating in a valve head 2a,

said valve head `being provided with oppositely disposed outletports 2C, vintersecting the main dischargeopening or duct 2d.

The sleeve head 3a, and stem or neck portion 3",of` the fountain spout is provided with an outlet port or duct 6, adapted to be brought into registry with the outlet ports or ducts 2, when the fountain cup is moved either to its depending position or its reverse upwardly extending position, said outlet port or duct communicating with the chamber of the cup or spout through a perforated or strainer cup 7, the side walls of said strainer cup being provided with percupy or spout 3,A

A fountain cap 12 is removably secured to the lower or discharge portion of the fountainv cup or spout preferably by means of screw threads, said fountain cap being provided with a central opening or orifice l2, for the discharge of the fountain stream in a well known and iuiderstood manner.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is, -f

l.` In a fountain faucet, a rotatably mounted fountain cup-provided with an inlet port at one end and a central discharge opening at the other and having an enlarged cylindrical shaped chamber, a second cup having an enlarged strainer chamber communicating with said inlet port and provided with perforated cylindrical walls spaced from the walls of said. fountain cup to provide an annular chamber between the walls of said cups, and a-n imperforate cap threaded to they mounted in and spaced said fountain cup to. form an annular chamber within the walls of of a cylindrical strainer cup having an v vided with an angular key receiving outer end' of said second cup whereby access may be obtained to said enlarged strainer 1 chamber and spaced inwardly from said cenand as a means for removably maintaining said foraminous or strainer metal within the tral discharge opening.

2. In a fountain faucet, a rotatably mounted fountain cup provided with inlet and outlet ports, a cylindrical shaped perforated cup from the walls of the latter, said perforated cup being provided. with an enlarged chamber communicating with said inlet port, a strainer member mounted within said enlarged. chamber of said strainer cup and an imperforate thumb cap threaded to the outer end of said strainer cup and adapted to removably retain said strainer member therein.

3. In a fountain faucet, the combination with a rotatably mounted fountain cup provided with. an inlet port opening at one end and a central discharge opening at the other;

enlarged strainer chamber communicating with said inlet port and having its cylindrical walls perforated and spaced from the walls of said fountain cup te provide an annular chamber between the walls of said cups, a cylindrical strainer member mounted in said strainer chamber, and a cap removably secured to the outer end of said perforated cup and adapted to removably retain said cylindrical strainer member therein.

4. In a fountain faucet, a fountain cup provided with a sleeve head and having a duct communicating with the latter and provided at one end with a threaded opening, a perforated cup provided with a threaded hollow stud portion mounted in said threaded opening, said threaded stud being proportion, and an imperforate cap threaded to the lower end of said perforated cup.
