The foregoing and other objects of this invention will hereinafter be more fully described and claimed and illustrated in the drawings forming a part of this specification in which like characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the views, and in which- Figure 1 is a front elevation of the device made in accordance with a preferred embodiment of this invention, a part of said. figure being broken away; Fig. 2 is a view at right angles to Fig. 1, also partly broken away; Fig. 3 is a transverse sectional detail on the line 33 of Fig. 2; and Fig. 1 is a detail on the line 44i of Fig. 1.
The several parts of the device may be made of any suitable materials and the relative sizes and proportions of the same may be "aried to a considerable extent without departing from the spirit of the invention hereinafter more fully set forth and specifically claimed.
At I show a frame or bracket constl tuting the main support for the several parts of the device. The operating parts comprise a master gear 11 having a hub 12 through which the gear is pivoted by means of a pivot bolt 13 to the intermediate portion 14 of the frame. The frame is provided with an upwardly projecting handle 15 of any suitable or well known form whereby the device is held in one hand while the master gear is turned by a handle 16 by the other hand.
The beater or agitator parts proper comprise a loop 17 of any suitable form shown,

The other principal part of the beater or a i m hani m consis s f a e t a shaft 2% to which are secured a series of transverse fingers 25 and 25, the latter of which at the upper and lower ends of the series are slightly curved and said. curved fingers and the ends of the other fingers sweep around closely within the path of the loop 17 and in the opposite direction from the rotation of said loop. The shaft 24 6X- tends upwardly through said brace, yoke, pinion 19 and frame members 22 and 23, and has connected to its upper end in any suitable easily detachable way a second pinion 26 also in mesh with the master gear 11 but which being on the opposite side of the pivot 13 from the pinion 19 is driven in the opposite direction therefrom. Each of the pinions, therefore, serves in the nature of an anti-friction roller for the other pinion,
and by this construction th likelihood of the slipping of the master gear from the driven pinions, due to looseness of the bearings, will be practically eliminated.
The purpose of the open space 17 at the bottom of the loop is to avoid a joint or hearing contact between the two parts of the agitator in'this part of the device. It also provides a means for the easy separation of the two movable parts of the agitator, for, by removing the pin 27 which secures the upper end of the shaft 24 to the pinion 26, the said shaft with the fingers connected thereto may he slipped bodily outward through said opening without obstruction. Under ordinary conditions, however, the pinion 19 and collar 19 will be retained in normal position within said yoke.

It is to be noted that the movable parts of this beater arepractically open and there is no possibility of material to become lodged tending to make the device unsani tary. Nhether or not the parts are separated for thorough cleansing, the material 1 being treated may readily be washed or rinsed from the device.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by-Letters Patent In an egg beater, the combination of a supporting member including a vertical cen tral portion, laterally extending bearing members at the upper and lower ends thereof, and a yoke extending downwardly from and extending thence laterally parallel to the lower frame bearing member, a vertical sleeve extending within said yoke, an agitator member comprising an open bottomed loop secured to the lower end of said sleeve, a shaft extending vertically through said shaft, sleeve, yoke and frame bearing members, a series of beater fingers secured-to said shaft within said loop, the shaft and said fingers being movable downwardly through the opening in the bottom of the loop, a master gear pivoted centrally of said intermediate frame member, and a pair of pinions meshing with and driven in opposite directions by said master gear, one of said pinions being connected to the upper end of the sleeve within the yoke and the other being connected to the upper end of the shaft above the uppermost frame bearing member. a r
