SOAP-HOLDER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented July 13, 1915,
Application filed November 25, 1913. Serial No. 802,972.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, PAUL P. PIERCE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Castile, in the county of Wyoming, State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Soap-Holders; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same. 1
The present invention is directed to improvements in soap holders, and has for its object to so construct a device of this character that the same can be easily'and quickly attached to the smooth surface of a bath tub or wash basin.
A further object of the invention is to so construct a soap holder that the same will be disposed horizontally within the tub and in convenient reach of the bather.
With these and other objects in view, this invention resides in the novel features of construction, formation, combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter more fully described, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which Figure l is a side elevation of the device, showing the same in place upon a bath tub, the tub being shown in section; Fig. 2 is a front view of the device; Fig. 3 is a sectional view on line 33 of Fig. 1. Fig. 4-.is
a top plan view.
Reierringvto the drawing, the numeral 1 designates the soap dish which may be of design and has depending from its bottom a downwardly and outwardly curved rod 2,
.the lower end of which terminates in a horizontally disposed elongated plate 3 designed to contact with the side of the tub 4:. I
A rubber vacuum cup 5 isprovided and has connected thereto an arm 6, said arm having its outer end secured to the bottom of the dish 1 in any suitable manner.
When it is desired to-apply the holder the vacuum or suction cup is pressed against the tub or basin so as to expel the air therefrom,
and upon releasing the pressure from the cup, the suction created thereby will cause the cup to adhere to the tub or basin. Thus in addition to the rod 2 and plate 3, the latter contacting with the sides of the tubor basin, the soap dish will be efi'ectually supported in convenient reach of the bather.
lhe upper end of the rod 2 is provided with a flat head 7 ,which can be readily secured to the bottom of the soap dish 1 by a rivet, or it may be soldered as desired. The outer endof the arm 6 may be secured to the bottom of the dish in a similar manner.
the arm and adjacent the opposite edge of the dish, the said rod extending downwardly and then horizontally parallel to the said arm and a plate carried by the end of the said rod constructed and arranged to engage the support below and in-spaced relation to suction cup.
In testimony whereof, I affix my signature, in the presence of twowitnesses.
PAUL PASCAL PIERCE.
