JOHN LAVIGNE, OF EVERETT, WASHINGTON.
SHADE-ROLLER SUPPORT.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Apr. 9, 1912.
Application filed September 13, 1910. Serial No. 581,743.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, JOHN LAVIGNE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Everett, in the county of Snohomish and State of Washington, have invented new and useful Improvements in Shade-Roller Supports, of which the following is a specification. k
This invention relates to shade roller supports and the object of the invention is the provision of a device of this character whereby the shade roller may be supported at any position upon the window frame.
A further object of the invention is the a provision of a novel shade roller support together with means for normally elevating the support and means for locking the support in adjusted position on the frame.
Further objects of the invention will appear as the following specific description is read in connection with the accompanying drawing which forms a part of this application, and in which:
Figure 1 is a front elevation. Fig. 2 is a vertical section through the frame showing the shade support in side elevation. Fig. 3 is a transverse section on the line 33 of Fig. 1. Fig. at isa view, on an enlarged scale, of the lower end of the bracket and holding means.
Referring more particularly to the drawing 1 represents a window frame having mounted upon opposite sides thereof in brackets 2 and 3, the guiding and supporting rods 4 which have slidably mounted thereon the brackets 5 and 6. These brackets are provided with the usual holes and slots for receiving the pintles of the shade roller 7 and are normally elevated by means of the spiral springs 8.
In order to hold the brackets in adjusted position upon the rod against the tension of the springs 8 there is secured to the lower ends of the brackets, connecting links 9 whose opposite ends are pivotally connected to the plates 10 apertured to receive the rods 4. When in idle position the plates 10 are adapted to lie at an angle to the rods 4 so as to bind upon the rods and prevent the springs 8 from raising the brackets. By pressing downwardly on the outer ends of the plates they may be brought to a right angular position with relation to the rods, when they will slip easily thereover in either direction. By releasing the outer ends of the plates, the springs 8 acting through the connecting links 9 will cause the plates to bind upon the rods and lock the brackets in adjusted position.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed is- In a device of the class described, a support, guiding rods arranged on opposite sides thereof, substantially U-shaped guiding brackets slidably mounted on said members, means carriedby said guiding brackets for holding the shade roller, a resilient connection between the guiding brackets and the support adapted to normally raise said brackets, a rod connected to the lower end of each bracket, and diagonally positioned binding plates carried by the rods and engaging the guide members to hold said guiding supports in adjusted position.
In testimony whereof I afliX my signature in presence of two witnesses.
JOHN LAVIGNE.
