To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, EARL R. Hurornson, a citizen of the United States, residlng at 'Amiot, in the county of Anderson and State of Kansas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Barrel-Supports; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to an improvement in barrel supports, and has for its object the provision of a device for pivotally supporting a liquid containing barrel in a horizontal position so that its contents may be dispensed with facility.

Another object is to rovide means for limiting the movement 0 the barrel to prevent back tilting thereof.

Another object is to provide a device composed of adjustable parts adapted for adustment to fit barrels of various sizes.

In the accompanying drawing, Figure 1 represents a perspective view of the barrel support, and in dotted lines, a barrel mounted therein. Fig. 2 represents a detail view partly in section of the pivotal mounting for the barrel engaging band, and, Fig. 3 represents a detail view partly in section taken at right angles to Fig. 2.

Referring to the drawing, wherein similar reference characters correspond with similar parts throughout the several views, 1--1 indicate the bases of a pair of U-shaped members which are connected at their upturned ends 2 by the bolt 3, and which comprise the stand for supporting the barrel and barrel engaging band. The U-shaped members are preferably formed from strap material and the upturned portions 2 thereof are turned inwardly toward each other so that the bases 1-1 will lie flat against the floor. Braces H are interposed between the spaced portions of the upturned ends 2 for strengthening the stand.

The upturned ends 2 of one of the U- shaped members are extended a distance upwardly of the turned ends of the other member and bent to a vertical position. These extended ends are notched to provide a downwardly tapering recess 5 for journaling the barrel engaging band which will be hereinafter described.

The band 6 having the outwardly turned ends t thereof is adapted to be engaged about a barrel and secured in adjusted posltion thereon by the hand screw 8 which is threaded through the turned ends 7 of the band. Slots 9 are formed at diametrically opposite points of the band 6 for receiving therethrough the pivot pins 10car ried by the curved sections 11, secured by rivets or the like 12 to the inner surface of the band 6. The pivot pins 10 are of sufficient length to accommodate the adjustment of the band 6 and have positioned through the outer 13. While I have here shown the pivot pins 10 of a fiat formation, I wish it to be clearly understood that I do not necessarily limit myself to this particular shape and may construct the parts referred to of round material. A strap 14 is bent at one end around the band 6 and at the opposite end extended downwardly to provide a leg 15 for preventing the barrel from tipping backwardly. If desired, the strap and leg may be dispensed with and an ordinary block inserted between the floor and the rear end of the barrel for supporting the latter.

From the foregoing, it will be seen that I have provided a barrel support which is extremely simple and durable in operation and construction, and which may be readily taken apart for securing the same in operative position upon the barrel.

In practice, the band 6 is preferably se cured over the barrel a sufiicient distance upwardly thereon to cause the rear or bottom of the barrel to tilt rearwardly and rest upon the leg 15 or other device provided for that purpose. In the drawing, the barrel is shown in dotted lines, and it will be clearly apparent that the contents thereof may be readily dispensed through the ordinary faucet 16 attached thereto.
