Specification of Letters Patent.

Patented Dec. 10,1912.
Application filed Api-n 26. 1912. serial in. 693,338. a
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ROLLO M. V1011, a citizen of the United States, residing at Canton, in the county of Stark and State of Ohio, have invented a new and useful Telephone-Holder, of which the following is a specification. I
My invention relates to improvements in telephone holders wherein a bracket is pro- .cheap telephone holder, easily constructed,-
, and second, to afford facilities for the proper adjustment of the holder, reference being had to the object or objects to which the holder is to be attached.
In the accompanying drawing-Figure 1 is a perspective view of the holder showing the lower portion f a desk telephone stand properly attached. Fig. 2 is a top view. 0 Fig. 3 is a bottom view showing the supporting bracket removedl Fig. 4c is a perspective View of the disk holding bracket. 1 Similar numerals of reference indicate. corresponding parts in all the figures of the drawing. a
In the accompanying drawing, 1 represents the disk-or shelf which is preferably circular in form and ofa size somewhat larger than the base of the telephone stand. The shelf 1 is preferably formed of sheet metal and provided at its outer, under edge with the semi-circular groove 2, which groove is for the purpose of receiving the wire 3, whichwire is bent so as to produce the integral telephone stand holding arms 4, which. arms are located a sufiicient distance above the shelf -1 to provide room to placethe base 5 upon the shelf 1, said arms resting upon the top of said. base.
For the purpose of preventing any accidental displacement of the telephone stand the wire 3 and the integral arms 4 are pref-.
erably formed of spring material and the arms so arranged that they will normally press upon the top of the base 5 when the base is placed in the position illustrated in Fig. 1. The bracket consists of the bar 6, the right angled portion 7 and the brace bar 8 all of said parts being preferably formed integral.
Theright angled flange 7 is for the purpose of securely connecting the bracket v proper to any desired object such as the wall of abuilding or the side of a desk as desired, the brace 8 being for ,thepurpose of'securely supporting the bracket proper in the desired vide d, the objects being, first, to provide a position which is preferably horizontal. In some instances it may be desirable to have the telephone stand holding arms located as shown in Fig. 1 and at other times located at right angles to the bracket, reference being had'to the location of the holderproper. It will be understood that in some instances it would be more convenient to, There the holding arms 4 located as shown in Figs. 1 and 2 and in other instances located at right angles to the bracket proper, said bracket being illustrated in dotted lines Fig. 2.
For the purpose of preventing the shelf 1 9, which ribs are stampedin the metal of" the shelf 1 and are seated in correspondingly shaped grooves 10 stamped in the-bar 6 of t Itwill be understood e bracket proper. that when the ribs 9 are seated in the grooves 10 and the clamping bolt or screw 11 properly connected the shelf will be held in rel'ative fixed position with reference to the bracket 10. If in the event it is desired to change the position of the holding arms 4' with reference to the bracket or more 'specifically the attaching portion 7 of said bracket the screw .11 may be loosened or removed and the proper and desired adjustment made. i
For the purpose of securely clamping the wire-3 to the shelf 1 at points near the holding arms 1 thetangs 12 are cut from the shelfl, one end of said tangs being left integral with said shelf the tangs being bent into position to snugly clamp the wire 3 and hold the same in the groove 2. For the purpose of providing room for the upward bent port-ions 13 of the holding arms 4 the notches or recesses 14 are cut in the periphery of the shelf 1. For the purpose. of causing the bar portion 6 of the'bracket to sit snugly upon the bottom or underside of the shelf 1 said bar is-provided with the downwardly bentends or portions 15 so hat the central or middle portion of the bar 6 will be slightly elevated, thereby providing room at the ends of the bar for the wire 3 togetherwith the metal. covering for said wire, which metal covering is folded or bent to produce the groove 2.
Having fully described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters 'latent, .is- Y 1. In a device of the character described, a shelf adapted to support a telephone stand,
from rotating upon the bracket 6, the bot- 70 tom of the shelf 1 is provided with theribs shelf and means for holding the bracket in fixed position with reference to the'shelf,
gubstantially as and for the purpose speci- 2. In a telephone holder, the combination of a shelf provided With a semi-circular groove upon itsbottom or underside, a Wire located in'said roove,.portions of said Wire bent to provi e telephone stand holding arms, and means for connecting the wire and shelf together, substantially as and for Corrections in Letters Patent No. 1,046,689
the purpose specified. I
3. In a telephone holder, the combination of a shelf provided with a semi-circular groove upon its bottom or underside, a wire I located in said groove, portions of said Wire.
bent to provide telephone stand holding arms, means for connecting the 'wire and shelf together, and means for holding the presence of two Witnesses.
