Abstract
一種微發光二極體顯示面板,包含複數微發光二極體,排列為列與行。同列的微發光二極體的陽極連接至相應資料線,同行的像素的陰極連接至相應共同線群,每一共同線連接至不同顏色的微發光二極體的陰極。
Description
本發明係有關一種微發光二極體,特別是關於一種微發光二極體顯示面板。
微發光二極體(microLED、mLED或μLED)顯示面板為平板顯示器(flat panel display)的一種,其係由尺寸等級為1~100微米之個別精微(microscopic)發光二極體所組成。相較於傳統液晶顯示面板,微發光二極體顯示面板具較大對比度及較快反應時間,且消耗較少功率。微發光二極體與有機發光二極體(OLED)雖然同樣具有低功耗的特性,但是,微發光二極體因為使用三-五族二極體技術(例如氮化鎵),因此相較於有機發光二極體具有較高的亮度(brightness)、較高的發光效能及較長的壽命。
微發光二極體顯示面板可分為共陽極(common-anode)機制,其同列的陽極連接在一起;與共陰極(common-cathode)機制,其同行的陰極連接在一起。傳統共陽極微發光二極體顯示面板具有不均勻的電負載,而傳統共陰極微發光二極體顯示面板則需要較多資料線(data line)。
因此亟需提出一種新穎機制,以克服傳統微發光二極體顯示面板的缺點。
鑑於上述,本發明實施例的目的之一在於提出一種共陽極微發光二極體顯示面板,其共用線(common line)具有均勻電負載,及一種共陰極微發光二極體顯示面板,其需要較少資料線。
根據本發明第一實施例,微發光二極體顯示面板包含複數微發光二極體,排列為列與行。同列的微發光二極體的陽極連接至相應資料線,同行的像素的陰極連接至相應共同線群,每一共同線連接至不同顏色的微發光二極體的陰極。
根據本發明第二實施例,微發光二極體顯示面板包含複數微發光二極體,排列為列與行。同列的相同顏色的微發光二極體的陽極連接至相應資料線,同行的像素的陰極連接至相應共同線群,每一共同線連接至不同顏色的微發光二極體的陰極。
根據本發明第三實施例,微發光二極體顯示面板包含時序控制器;複數驅動器,受控於時序控制器;及複數區塊,分別受控於相應驅動器。相鄰區塊於同一時間驅動為不同顏色。
根據本發明第四實施例,微發光二極體顯示面板包含複數微發光二極體,排列為列與行,直向設置的相鄰紅色微發光二極體、綠色微發光二極體及藍色微發光二極體構成一像素,且直向設置的複數相鄰像素構成一像素群。同列的相同顏色的微發光二極體的陽極連接至相應資料線,其共享於同一像素群的像素之間,且像素群的像素的陰極分別連接至相應共同線,其共享於同行的像素群之間。
第一A圖顯示本發明第一實施例的微發光二極體顯示面板100的電路圖。其中,本實施例的微發光二極體顯示面板100可包含複數微發光二極體11,例如紅色微發光二極體11R、綠色微發光二極體11G及藍色微發光二極體11B,排列為列(row)與行(column)。橫向設置的相鄰紅色微發光二極體11R、綠色微發光二極體11G及藍色微發光二極體11B構成一像素(pixel)12。
在本實施例中,同列的微發光二極體11的陽極連接至相應(單一)資料線(Data)。同行的像素12的陰極連接至相應共同線(COM)群,每一共同線連接至不同顏色的微發光二極體11(的陰極),例如紅色微發光二極體11R、綠色微發光二極體11G及藍色微發光二極體11B。在一實施例中,連接至共同線的紅色微發光二極體11R的數量、綠色微發光二極體11G的數量及藍色微發光二極體11B的數量為相同。因此,共同線的電負載為相同。藉此,共同線可設計相同的寬度。
第一B圖至第一D圖例示驅動(第一A圖)微發光二極體顯示面板100的時序圖。其中,共同線依序驅動(或掃描),例如COM1、COM2、COM3…。如第一B圖所例示,當掃描第一共同線COM1時,提供紅色(影像)資料與相關電流訊息I_R於資料線Data 1;當掃描第二共同線COM2時,提供綠色(影像)資料與相關電流訊息I_G於資料線Data 1;且當掃描第三共同線COM3時,提供藍色(影像)資料與相關電流訊息I_B於資料線Data 1。值得注意的是,(相關於資料線的)電流訊息可於(相鄰共同線之間的)線遮沒(line blanking)期間提供,且資料線所提供的影像資料分別具有不同的顏色順序。
第二A圖顯示微發光二極體顯示面板200的電路圖,其未使用第一A圖的架構。於微發光二極體顯示面板200,每一共同線連接至同行(相同顏色)的微發光二極體11的陰極。由於(同一群的)共同線之間的電負載不相同,因此共同線需設計為不同寬度。通常,所有共同線係設計為最大寬度,因而造成低開口率(aperture ratio),亦即光穿透面積與整個像素面積的比值。
第二B圖例示驅動(第二A圖)微發光二極體顯示面板200的時序圖。類似於第一B圖至第一D圖,(相關於資料線的)電流訊息可於(相鄰共同線之間的)線遮沒期間提供,但是資料線所提供的影像資料具有相同的顏色順序。
第三A圖顯示本發明第二實施例的微發光二極體顯示面板300的電路圖。(第三A圖的)微發光二極體顯示面板300類似於(第一A圖的)微發光二極體顯示面板100,其差異說明如下。
在本實施例中,同列的相同顏色的微發光二極體11的陽極連接至相應資料線。值得注意的是,本實施例所需資料線的數量是微發光二極體顯示面板100的三倍。
第三B圖例示驅動(第三A圖)微發光二極體顯示面板300與(第一A圖)微發光二極體顯示面板100的時序圖。其中,依序驅動(或掃描)共同線場(field)3N+1、共同線場3N+2、共同線場3N+3,其中N為非負的整數。例如,首先驅動COM1、COM4、COM7…的第一共同線場,接著驅動COM2、COM5、COM8…的第二共同線場,再驅動COM3、COM6、COM9…的第三共同線場。如第三B圖所例示,一個圖框(frame)內僅需切換二次定電流,例如從紅色微發光二極體11R相應的定電流第一次切換至綠色微發光二極體11G相應的定電流,接著從綠色微發光二極體11G相應的定電流第二次切換至藍色微發光二極體11B相應的定電流。藉此,可避免頻繁切換定電流。值得注意的是,(相關於資料線的)電流訊息可於(相鄰共同線場之間的)場遮沒(field blanking)期間提供,因而可以避免(如第二B圖或第一B圖至第一D圖所示)不同顏色之間的頻繁切換。
第四A圖顯示本發明第三實施例的微發光二極體顯示面板400的俯視示意圖。其中,微發光二極體顯示面板400受控於時序控制器40,可包含複數區塊41,每一區塊41由相應驅動器42驅動。第四B圖至第四D圖例示(時序控制器40)驅動(第四A圖)區塊41的順序。根據本實施例的特徵之一,相鄰區塊41於同一時間驅動為不同顏色。特別的是,橫向設置相鄰的任何三個區塊41於同一時間驅動為(三種)不同顏色。藉此,區塊41之間的電負載為相同。
第五A圖顯示本發明第四實施例的微發光二極體顯示面板500的電路圖。其中,直向設置的相鄰紅色微發光二極體11R、綠色微發光二極體11G及藍色微發光二極體11B構成一像素12,且直向設置的複數(例如三個)相鄰像素12構成一像素群(pixel group)13。同列的相同顏色的微發光二極體11的陽極連接至相應資料線,其共享於(share)同一像素群13的像素12之間。像素群13的像素12的陰極分別連接至相應共同線,其共享於同行的像素群13之間。例如,第一像素12的陰極連接至第一共同線COM1,第二像素12的陰極連接至第二共同線COM2,且第三像素12的陰極連接至第三共同線COM3。第五B圖例示以分時(time-sharing)方式驅動第五A圖的微發光二極體顯示面板500的順序。
第六圖顯示微發光二極體顯示面板600的電路圖,其未使用第五A圖的架構。其中,橫向設置的相鄰紅色微發光二極體11R、綠色微發光二極體11G及藍色微發光二極體11B構成一像素12。同列的相同顏色的微發光二極體11的陽極連接至相應資料線。同行的像素12的陰極連接至共同線。相較於微發光二極體顯示面板500,微發光二極體顯示面板600具有較少的共同線,但較多的資料線。

Claims (6)
- 一種微發光二極體顯示面板,包含:複數微發光二極體,排列為列與行;其中橫向相鄰設置的紅色、綠色及藍色微發光二極體構成一像素,同列的微發光二極體的陽極連接至相應資料線,同行的像素的陰極連接至相應共同線群,每一共同線連接至不同顏色的微發光二極體的陰極。
- 如請求項1之微發光二極體顯示面板,其中連接至共同線的紅色微發光二極體的數量、綠色微發光二極體的數量及藍色微發光二極體的數量為相同。
- 如請求項1之微發光二極體顯示面板,其中共同線依序驅動,且資料線所提供的影像資料分別具有不同的顏色順序。
- 一種微發光二極體顯示面板,包含:複數微發光二極體,排列為列與行;其中橫向相鄰設置的紅色、綠色及藍色微發光二極體構成一像素,同列的相同顏色的微發光二極體的陽極連接至相應資料線,同行的像素的陰極連接至相應共同線群,每一共同線連接至不同顏色的微發光二極體的陰極。
- 如請求項4之微發光二極體顯示面板,其中連接至共同線的紅色微發光二極體的數量、綠色微發光二極體的數量及藍色微發光二極體的數量為相同。
- 一種微發光二極體顯示面板,包含: 複數微發光二極體,排列為列與行,直向設置的相鄰紅色微發光二極體、綠色微發光二極體及藍色微發光二極體構成一像素,且直向設置的複數相鄰像素構成一像素群;其中同列的相同顏色的微發光二極體的陽極連接至相應資料線,其共享於同一像素群的像素之間,且像素群的像素的陰極分別連接至相應共同線,其共享於同行的像素群之間。
