Description

基於橡膠狀聚合物的容器密封劑組合物例如苯乙烯-丁二烯橡膠(SBR)和羧化苯乙烯-丁二烯橡膠(CSBR)在現有技術中已為眾所周知。為了獲得可接受的耐水性、耐擠壓性和容器密封性能,此類組合物往往包含交聯劑,例如過氧化物或鋅化合物,以在橡膠組分內形成交聯網絡。此類密封劑組合物還通常包含填充劑和增黏劑。此類密封劑組合物的實例見於US 4,189,418、WO 82/02721、EP 0182674、US 5,747,579和WO 2008/157217。雖然前述發明中的一些在所列出的可能的填充劑中包括各種二氧化矽,但已發現加入被雙電子層穩定化的典型的膠態二氧化矽會導致橡膠膠乳成為凝膠,致使其不能為容器密封劑使用。
US 5,763,388中提出了製備水性相容化的二氧化矽漿料的方法,該二氧化矽漿料可更容易地與橡膠膠乳共混。該文中提及了用於二氧化矽分散體的熱解法二氧化矽和沉澱法二氧化矽。透過用包含活性官能基的有機矽烷偶聯劑處理二氧化矽分散體製備水性相容化的二氧化矽漿料,使

本發明包括容器密封劑組合物,該容器密封劑組合物包含羧化苯乙烯-丁二烯橡膠(CSBR)的膠乳和填充劑,該填充劑包含用有機矽烷預處理的膠態二氧化矽。

本發明的容器密封劑組合物包含羧化苯乙烯-丁二烯橡膠(CSBR)的膠乳。該CSBR可為任何傳統上用於形成容器密封劑組合物的CSBR。典型的CSBR見於US 5,747,579且包括苯乙烯和丁二烯與羧酸的共聚物,該羧酸例如富馬酸、丙烯酸、甲基丙烯酸、伊康酸、烏頭酸、馬來酸或巴豆酸,或苯乙烯和丁二烯與酸酐的共聚物,該酸酐例如馬來酐或衣康酐。較佳的CSBR為苯乙烯和丁二烯與丙烯酸的共聚物。通常,與苯乙烯-丁二烯共聚的酸
(或酸酐)的量為彈性體重量的約0.5%至6%。苯乙烯和丁二烯的比例通常為使各組分為基於100份的苯乙烯加丁二烯的30%至70%範圍(即,30至70 phr,phr=每100份橡膠中的份數)。通常,丁二烯的量為約35%至55%,而苯乙烯的量為約45%至65%。通常,CSBR具有0至70重量%的凝膠含量、30至150(ML1+4,100℃)的木尼黏度和20至60重量%的苯乙烯含量。該CSBR膠乳通常包含約40%至70%總橡膠固體。
該容器密封劑組合物額外地包含填充劑,該填充劑包含用有機矽烷預處理的膠態二氧化矽。通常,對於每100份重量(固體)的CSBR,該組合物包含約5至40份重量(固體)的該預處理的膠態二氧化矽填充劑(即,5至40 phr),較佳為對於每100份重量的CSBR包含約10至30份重量的該預處理的膠態二氧化矽填充劑(即,10-30 phr)。這導致CSBR(固體)與二氧化矽(固體)的比率為100:5至100:40,較佳為100:10至100:30。
該膠態二氧化矽可選自任何現有技術中已知的膠態二氧化矽。膠態二氧化矽(又稱為二氧化矽溶膠)為具有較小粒度的二氧化矽,其在分散體中保留較長的時間週期。較佳為的膠態二氧化矽具有1 nm至150 nm的粒度,更佳為具有約2 nm至40 nm的粒度。較佳的膠態二氧化矽為LUDOX® HS-40(美國康乃狄克州W.R.Grace & Co.),其以40%二氧化矽粒子的水性分散體獲得,該粒子具有約12 nm的平均粒度。
用有機矽烷預處理該膠態二氧化矽以使其與橡膠膠乳相容。該有機矽烷包括與CSBR中的羧基反應以在橡膠體系中構建網絡結構的官能基。理論上認為這樣的網絡結構的形成在接合期間提供改進的拉伸強度和減少的溢膠,而不需交聯劑。因此,在一個較佳為的實施態樣中,該容器密封劑組合物基本不含交聯劑。
用於使膠態二氧化矽相容化的預處理劑的有用的合適的有機矽烷包括具有以下通式的有機矽烷

市售的這類相容化預處理劑的代表包括3-胺基丙基三甲氧基矽烷、3-胺基丙基三乙氧基矽烷、3-胺基丙基二
甲基乙氧基矽烷、3-胺基丙基二羥基甲氧基矽烷、N-(2-胺基乙基)-3-胺基丙基三甲氧基矽烷、N-(2-胺基乙基)-3-胺基丙基-三乙氧基矽烷、N-甲基-胺基丙基三甲氧基矽烷、3-羥基丙基-三丙氧基矽烷、3-巰基丙基三乙氧基矽烷、縮水甘油基丙基-三甲氧基矽烷、3-甲基丙烯醯氧丙基三乙氧基矽烷、3-甲基丙烯醯氧-丙基三甲氧基矽烷、2-巰基乙基三乙氧基矽烷、3-硫氰基-丙基三乙氧基矽烷、雙-(3-三乙氧基丙硫基(thiopropyl))四硫醚、乙烯基三乙氧基矽烷、乙烯基苯基甲基矽烷、乙烯基二甲基甲氧基矽烷、二乙烯基二甲氧基矽烷、二乙烯基乙基二甲氧基矽烷、二甲基乙烯基氯代矽烷等。較佳為的預處理劑為胺基-有機矽烷,特別是3-胺基丙基三乙氧基矽烷和N-(2-胺基乙基)-3-胺基丙基三甲氧基矽烷。
在進行有機矽烷處理劑和二氧化矽之間的反應時,該試劑可溶入低級烷醇,該低級烷醇例如pH低於9,且較佳為pH在的3至9範圍內的丙醇或乙醇,向其中連續或增量地慢慢加入水,以開始包含於偶聯劑中的可水解基團的水解以形成相應矽烷醇。為幫助烷氧基水解,需要pH在4-4.5範圍內以將副反應(例如有機矽烷的低聚反應)減至最小,且該pH可通過使用稀無機酸(例如鹽酸)或弱有機酸(例如乙酸)維持。為幫助氫基團水解,較佳者係更為鹼性的條件且可使用鹼(例如KOH、NaOH、NH4OH、三乙基胺或吡啶)以維持8-9的pH。鹼的選擇取決於被加入二氧化矽漿料的特定膠乳的化學性質。當可水解基團為鹵素
時,較佳為將有機鹵代矽烷直接與膠態二氧化矽混合。然後將水解處理劑與膠態二氧化矽共混,由此存在於處理劑中的矽烷醇基團與二氧化矽表面發生化學反應以在該試劑和二氧化矽表面之間形成矽氧烷鍵(Si-O-Si)。
膠態二氧化矽中的二氧化矽濃度可在相對寬的範圍內變化,例如二氧化矽為基於漿料重量的1%至50%,較佳為20%至40%重量。溫度和反應時間也可在寬範圍內變化,但在升高的溫度(例如,80℃)下進行數小時是有利的。有機矽烷處理劑的量可同樣地在相對寬的範圍內變化,例如,1至15份試劑每100份重量(乾固體)膠態二氧化矽,較佳為2至5份重量試劑每100份重量膠態二氧化矽。
在用有機矽烷相容化劑處理膠態二氧化矽後,可使用足夠的攪拌將經處理的膠態二氧化矽與橡膠膠乳共混以使經處理的膠態二氧化矽均一地分佈於膠乳中。該經二氧化矽處理的膠乳是穩定的並可貯藏待後用。
該容器密封劑組合物較佳為額外地包含增黏劑。該增黏劑可選自任何通常用在容器密封劑組合物中的增黏劑。通常,該增黏劑可包括選自松香基樹脂(例如,松香、氫化松香、松香酯、氫化松香酯)、萜烯基樹脂(例如,α-蒎烯、β-蒎烯、二戊烯)、酚醛基樹脂和石油烴基樹脂的至少一種材料。該組合物中包含的增黏劑的量可變,但每100份重量(固體)的橡膠組分通常包含約10至150份,較佳為15至100份重量的量(即,10至150phr,較佳為15
至100phr)。
該容器密封劑組合物還可包含額外的填充劑。這類額外的填充劑可為選自黏土、二氧化鈦、碳酸鈣、高嶺土、礬土白、硫酸鈣、氫氧化鋁和滑石的至少一種材料。該額外的填充劑的量可變化,但通常每100份重量(固體)的橡膠組分包含約5-150份重量的量(即,5至150phr)。
該容器密封劑組合物還可包含少量的其他添加劑例如著色劑(例如,炭黑)、抗氧化劑、增稠劑(例如,膨潤土、刺梧桐樹膠、甲基纖維素)、殺菌劑、表面活性劑和pH調節劑。

此實施例證由預處理的膠態二氧化矽與CSBR膠乳的組合產生的相較於使用未處理的膠態二氧化矽以及相較於SBR膠乳的改進。將膠態二氧化矽或預處理的膠態二氧化矽以表1中示出的量和比率在攪拌下緩慢加入SBR膠乳
或CSBR膠乳中,然後將這些混合物以200至300rpm攪拌15至20分鐘。結果在表1中示出。
由上述資料可見,SBR或CSBR均不能成功地與未處理的膠態二氧化矽結合。(參見A1、A2、E1和E2。)在各
個情況中,膠乳溶液在數小時內成為凝膠。經比較,SBR和CSBR均能成功地與用有機矽烷預處理的膠態二氧化矽結合。(見C、D、G和H)。在SBR的情況中,預處理的膠態二氧化矽的加入在100:10比率(SBR:Si)下對拉伸強度基本無影響,而在100:30比率下將拉伸強度增加了57%(相較於無二氧化矽填充劑的橡膠的拉伸強度)。結果是,混合型SBR:Si樣品的拉伸強度過低而不足以達到容器密封劑的需求。(將C和D與B比較)在CSBR的情況中,在100:10和100:30比率(CSBR:Si)下預處理的膠態二氧化矽的加入將拉伸強度分別增加了71%和83%。(將G和H與F比較)。更重要的是,CSBR/預處理的膠態二氧化矽組合物的拉伸強度顯著高於SBR/預處理的膠態二氧化矽組合物的拉伸強度。(將G和H與C和D比較)
製備含有下列成分的容器密封劑組合物。
將預處理的膠態二氧化矽與CSBR膠乳混合並以30至70rpm攪拌30至90分鐘。將其餘成分加入該分散體,攪拌一小時並在真空下去沫。上述組合物具有13.15MPa的拉伸強度。
上述組合物用於使用傳統方法密封罐。使用往復式襯墊(reciprocal liner)將容器密封劑組合物的水性分散體塗佈於罐末端(或罐蓋)的卷邊區域上並在空氣循環烘箱中在90℃下熱乾燥十分鐘。將190 ml的罐填充以熱液體(例如,沸水以類比食品內容物),然後將該罐末端置於裝滿的罐上並使用往復式雙封口機(reciprocal double seamer)接合。然後使已接合的罐經受熱消毒(例如,125℃下30 min),然後讓其冷卻至室溫。該罐表現出該密封劑組合物在接合後顯著減少的溢膠且維持極好的密封狀況。
