Abstract

An adaptive de-noising system and method is disclosed. A motion detector detects the motion status of each pixel in a frame and an edge detector detects the edge status of each pixel in the frame. A noise estimation estimates an adaptive noise level according to the motion status from the motion detector and the edge status from the edge detector, with the noise level feedback to the motion detector and the edge detector. A de-noise filter performs a noise compensation process for each pixel in the frame according to the motion status from the motion detector, the edge status from the edge detector, and the noise level, so as to obtain a de-noised frame.
