The mechanism for depressing the brake pedal in the known devices for the automatic removal of the canvases on the scutching apparatus has the following disadvantages.

Squeezing the pedal takes place before the drop of the cut-off lever, which is why several layers of canvas are wound loose. The brake pedals are put into operation after the canvas starts working, as a result of which the combs, raised to the maximum height, fall freely and roll over the machine bed with rollers, which leads to breakage of the combs and wear of the rollers. When striking a bed, the combers rise again and sometimes remain in a position from which the combs must be lowered. After each reloading and removal of an incomplete canvas, the mechanism has to be set up again. The proposed device does not have the noted disadvantages. In it, to depress the brake pedal immediately after the cut-off of the canvas, an angular lever is applied, the short arm of which acts through the adjusting bolt on the brake pedal, and the long arm interacts with the roller mounted on the cut-off lever with the roller on it.
