Abstract

[Object] To obtain a refrigerator in that when an illumination system of a storage compartment is constructed using LEDs with the small heating value and electric power consumption, the whole storage compartment can be efficiently illuminated with the LED light. [Solving Means] A refrigerator includes a storage compartment having a space, which is openable to/closable from an exterior space via a door, for accommodating storage goods; one or a plurality of loading shelves for zoning the storage compartment into a plurality of storage spaces in a vertical direction; and an illuminating system in that a plurality of light-emitting diodes are arranged on a side wall of the storage compartment in the vertical direction at positions adjacent to the door from the loading shelf for illuminating the storage compartment, in which on a plane parallel to the loading shelf, the plurality of light-emitting diodes of the illuminating system are directed such that an angle of an optical axis of the light- emitting diodes defined by the side wall is larger than 60o as well as the light from the light-emitting diodes in the optical axial direction is not allowed to directly enter the loading shelf.
