Abstract

A method is disclosed for patterning a textile substrate comprising thermoplastic yarns by treating the substrate surface in a pattern configuration, for example, using heated air streams, to allow a later-applied solvent to extract dye from the treated areas at a faster rate than from untreated areas. The process may be combined with thermal deformation of the yarns in the treated areas.
