Abstract

A connecting fitting for detachably connecting two platelike furniture parts, which adjoin and extend preferably at right angles to each other consists of two fitting elements, which are adapted to be secured to respective furniture parts to be connected and one of which has at least one bar-shaped portion which is adapted to be inserted into an opening of the other fitting element until the housings of the fitting element and/or the furniture parts engage each other, and said one fitting element is adapted to be connected to the other by locking means, which force the fitting elements against each other. In order to facilitate the mounting of such fitting the locking device comprises a detent lever, which is mounted in one fitting element and pivotally movable against the force of a spring and at its forward end carries a detent hook, the other fitting element comprised a step or rib, which has an abutment edge or another detent abutment, and when the detent lever has been inserted into and opening of said other fitting element the detent hook snaps behind said step or rib so that said rear face is urged by said spring against said detent abutment and exerts a wedge action thereon.
