Description
2 egenskaper och av vibrationstrycket (dvs amplituden och frekvensen hos vibrationsvågorna) och centrifugalkraften på kompositionen.
Storleken på vibrationstrycket förorsakat av obalans är stort sätt proportionell mot omfattningen (vikten) av obalansen och mot fordonets vikt (tryck på däcken) och hastighet, dvs Vibrationstrycket = Konstant x (Vikten på obalansen) x (Fordonets vikt) x (Fordonets hastighet) Det är viktigt att notera, att vibrationstrycket är oberoende av balanseringsgelens egenskaper och av däckets diameter.
Centrifugalkraften på en komposition placerad på ett däcks insida är proportionell mot kompositionens densitet och mot kvadraten på däckets rotationshastighet. Spänningen (stress) som centrifugalkraften förorsakar l en sådan komposition, i fall den är ojämnt fördelad, kan uppskattas med hjälp av följande ekvation: AP = [dXVZ/(izesxnjxu-ri) Där AP är tryckfallet (i Pascal) mellan de delar av den ojämnt fördelade kompositionen som befinner sig i respektive avstånd (i meter) r och ri från rotationsaxeln, d är kompositionens densitet (kg/m3), V är ett dimensionslöst tal lika med hjulets hastighet i kilometer per timme (KMH), r är differensen mellan däckets inre radie och tjockleken av balanseringsgelen på det tunnaste stället, och ri är avståndet frän rotationsaxeln till "toppen" av lagret av balanseringskomposition.
Den verkliga stressen i balanseringskompositionen avgörs av avståndet mellan den tunnaste och den tjockaste delen av kompositionen (balanseringskompositionens "|utning").
Den förskjutning i en balanseringskomposition som erfordras för att utjämna en viss obalans, avgörs av vikten och arten av obalansen och av däckets diameter.
Låt oss betrakta ett extremfall, ett standard 22 tums lastbilsdåck med 300 g statisk obalans i en "tung punkt". (300 g år den maximala obalansen som påträffas i praxis). För att utbalansera denna tunga punkt måste balanseringskompositionens lutande skikt innehålla 30Ox1r2/4 g massa, dvs 740 g. Bandet av balanseringskomposition på däckets insida är ca 10 cm brett. Antaget att balanseringskompositionens densitet är 900 kg/m3 och att Ti ,i “'í'7 n! QD s , Cr balanseringsskiktets tjocklek ökar lineärt från den tunga punkten till det tjockaste stället diametralt motsatt, går det att beräkna balanseringsskiktet till ungefär 3,3 mm på tjockaste stället, motsvarande en stress i balanseringskomposition på 14 Pa.
En liknande beräkning för ett standard 11 tums personbilsdäck med en statisk obalans på 90 g i en tung punkt (90 g är den maximala obalansen i praxis) antaget att balanseringsskiktets bredd är ca 7 cm, indikerar att balanseringsfilmen är ca 2,3 mm tjockare diametralt motsatt den tunga punkten, svarande till en stress på ungefär 19 Pa.
Med hjälp av dessa antagande och formeln ovan har jag fått fram nedanstående "Tabell |" för tryckfall och centrifugalkraftsinducerad stress i balanseringskompositionen.

Gelen introduceras genom däckets ventilkägla eller sprids jämnt med en spatel längs med däckets inre perimeter innan däcket monteras. Efter 2-10 km körning upphör alla vibrationer förorsakade av obalans. 503 "i 7 9 4 De viktigaste rheologiska egenskaperna hos balanseringskompositionen är dess elesticitetsmodul, G', och dess viskositetsmodul, G". G' är ett mått på gelstyrkan, dvs styrkan i och antalet av bindningar mellan molekylerna i gelbildaren. Jag har upptäckt, att för att uppnå tillfredsställande balanseringsegenskaper måste G' ligga i området 3000 - 15000 Pa.
Ett Strain Sweep för en fungerande balanseringsgel visas i Fig. 1. En synnerligen tillfredsställande balanseringskomposition har ett G'-värde kring 9000 Pa. En typisk skjuvspännings/viskositets - skjuvhastighetskurva för en välfungerande balanseringskomposition anges i Fig. 2. Nedre gränsen för G' hos en välfungerande balanseringskomposition har experimentellt bestämts till 3000 Pa.
Följande det teoretiska resonemanget ovan bör balanseringskompositionens densitet vara irrelevant. Till min förvåning har jag dock upptäckt, att balanseringskompositionens densitet är av stor betydelse. l praktiska försök fungerade geler med låg densitet (d < 900 kg/m3) baserade på olika kolväten konsekvent mycket bättre än geler med hög densitet (d >1000 kg/m3) baserade på olika förtjockade glykoler. Detta var speciellt fallet för personbilar och bussar, där försök med balansering med geler med hög densitet misslyckades oberoende av deras viskoelastiska egenskaper.
Av lika stor betydelse som densitet och viskoelastiska egenskaper är balanseringskompositionens långtidsstabilitet i bruk, balanseringskompositionens effektivitet vid olika temperaturer och balanseringskompositionens reaktivitet.
En acceptabel balanseringskomposition måste förbli funktionell under hela däckets livstid och under olika körbetingelser, speciellt måste den fungera i det normala körhastighetsintervallet, 0 till ca 160 kmh, och i det normala temperaturintervallet, -30°C till +90°C, idrift. Dessutom får balanseringskompositionen inte påverka däcket negativt, i synnerhet får balanseringskompositionen inte påverka däckets innerskikt eller skada däckkorden eller andra delar av däcket, som den kan komma i kontakt med vid olycksfall (i.e. punktering).

Separationsstabilitet: Mindre än 1% separation (vikts) av basoljan efter 24 timmar vid 125 x g och 10000.
Kemisk reaktivitet: Ingen effekt på gummi eller andra polymerer, icke- korrosiv för metaller.
BESKRIVNING AV RITNINGARNA.
Fig. 1 visar plot av logaritmen av elasticitetsmodulen, G' (i Pa) som funktion av spänning (i m) för kompositionen i Exempel 1.
Fig. 2 visar plot av logaritmen av skjuvspänningen (i Pa) som funktion av skjuvhastigheten (i s'1) för kompositionen i Exempel 1. Vänstra ändpunkten för kurvan motsvarar den kritiska skjuvspänningen (174 Pa), dvs den skjuvspänning vid vilken gelnätet börjar bryta samman och viskositeten av kompositionen börjar sjunka.
Fig. 3 visar resultaten av en oscillationstest av kompositionen i Exempel 1.
DETALJERAD BESKRIVNING AV UPPFINNINGEN.
Baserat på ovannämnda kriterier och omfattande experiment och fältförsök har ett antal balanseringsgeler uppfunnits.
De uppfunna kompositionerna består av tre huvudkomponenter, en olja, en gelbildare och en viskositetindexförbättrare.
Exempel på oljor som är användbara för föreliggande uppfinning är paraffin- eller naften oljor med maximal densitet på 880 kg/m3 vid 25 °C och lägsta flytpunkt (ASTM D 97) vid maximalt -15 OC, polybuten oljor med maximal densitet på 900 kg/m3 vid 25 °C och lägsta flytpunkt (ASTM D 97) vid maximalt -15 °C Andra oljor som kan förväntas vara nyttiga för den föreliggande uppfinning är polyol estrar och andra syntetiska kolväten såsom polypropylen oljor och poly-alfa-olefiner .
Ett specifikt exempel på oljor som är användbar för den föreliggande uppfinning är en polybuten olja med kinematisk viskositet per ASTM D445 på cirka 50 cSt vid 99 OC, lägsta flytpunkt per ASTM D 97 vid -26 OC, densitet 868 kg/m3, och medelmolekylvikt 610, som finns tillgänglig från Amoco Chemicals Company, Chicago, Illinois, U.S.A., under handelsnamnet lndopol H-25.
Gelbildare som är användbar för den föreliggande uppfinning är kolloidal silikagel (hydrofob eller hydrofil), asbestfiber, bentonit lera och metalltvålar. f_- n n »J L' U 'i 7 9' 6 Specifika exempel på gelbildare som är användbar för den föreliggande uppfinning är en polydimetylsiloxan-behandlat, kolloidal silikagel med ett BET ytareal på 90 +/-20 m2/g som innehåller ca 5% kemiskt bundet kol, tillgänglig från Degussa under handelsnamnet Aerosil® R202, och kolloidal silikagel med ett BET ytareal på 200 +/-20 m2/g , tillgänglig från Cabot Corporation, U.S.A. under handelsnamnet Cab-O-Sil M-5.
Exempel på viskositetsindextörbättrare som är användbara för föreliggande uppfinning är poly-alkyl-metakrylat (PAMA), styren-etylen-butylen-styren block-copolymerer (SEBS), styren-etylen-propylen block-copolymerer (SEP), polyisobutylener, etylen-propylen copolymerer, hydrogenerade butadiene-styren-copolymerar, och polymerer av fumarsyra estra och maleinsyra estra.
Specifika exempel på viskositetindexförbättrare som är användbara för föreliggande uppfinning är en PAMA med medelmolekylvikt 480.000 tillgänglig frän Fiöhm GMBH Chemische Fabrik, Darmstadt, Germany under handelsnamnet Viscop|ex® 2-500, en SEP med ett styren/gummi förhållandet på 37/63, densitet 920 kg/m3, och sträckstyrka, psi på 300, tillgänglig från Shell Chemical Company, Houston, Texas, U.S.A., under handelsnamnet Kraton® G-1701X, och en poIyhydroxycarboxylsyraamidblandning tillgänglig från BYK-Chemie U.S.A., Connecticut, U.S.A under handelsnamnet BYK®-405 .
En komposition enligt föreliggande uppfinning består typisk av mellan cirka 80 och cirka 95 % (vikts) av oljan, mellan cirka 4 och cirka 15 % (vikts) av gelbildaren, och mellan cirka 1 och cirka 5 % (vikts) av viskositetsindexförbättraren.
Kompositionen kan även om så önskas innehålla mindre mängder korrosionsinhibitorer och/eller antioxidationsmedel.
Gelningseffekten på oljan hos gelbildaren åstadkommas genom bildning av ett nätverk av hydrogenbindningar via gelbildarens hydroxygrupper eller via van der Waals attraktion mellan molekylsegment i gelbildaren. Antalet av och styrkan i dessa bindningar avgör gelstyrkan och gelens förmåga att tåla belastning (kritisk skjuvspänning). l Figurerna 1-3 anges en fullständig rheologisk karakteristik av en fungerande balanseringsgel (Exempel 1). Vid belastning över den kritiska skjuvspànningen (starkt vibrationstryck förorsakad av obalans) bryter nätverket ihop och kompositionen börjar bete sig som en vätska.
En extensiv serie av kompositioner, som tillfredsställer ovannämnda rheologiska kriterier har framställts utifrån de typer av oljor och gelbildare, 7 EC' 7 9 som anges ovan. Inga av dessa kompositioner kunde dock tillfredsställa kraven på lángtidsstabilitet. Alla gelbildarna har högre densitet än oljorna, och under inverkan av centrifugalkraften i ett rullande däck uppstår efter ett tag separation. Denna separation förvärras ytterligare av den relativt höga driftstemperaturen i ett rullande däck (ända upp till 70°C), som leder till lägre viskositet hos oljan. Beroende på kravet på funktionalitet vid låga temperaturer (ned till -30°C) och pá effekten pá balanseringskompositionens elasticitet (den blir för hög) kan man inte använda högviskösa oljor. I den föreliggande uppfinning har jag upptäckt, att detta problem kan lösas genom tillsats av viskositetsförbättrande medel.
Exempel på kompositioner, som har studerats anges i Tabell ll.
Kompositionerna framställdes med kända metoder.
Kompositionerna utvärderades dels rheometrisk med hjälp av ett datoriserad Bohlin VOR Rheometer System (från Bohlin Rheologi AB, Lund) och dels i fälttester med personbilar, lastbilar och bussar. Personbilsdäcken försågs med 500 g balanseringsgel, antingen genom att gelen påfördes med en spatel på däckens insida innan montering på fälg eller genom injicering av gelen genom ventilkäglan. Buss och lastbilsdäck försågs med 1 kg balanseringsgel. Både slangdäck och slanglösa däck inkluderades i testen. Ingen skillnad i balanseringseffektivitet mellan de två typer av däck kunde observeras..
Kompositionemas effektivitet och livslängd utvärderades genom att mäta vibrationer från hjulen under en period av 50.000 km körning.
Kompositioner, som balanserade perfekt (inga kännbara vibrationer) under hela denna test och som utvisade mindre än 2% (vikts) separation av olja vid inspektion efter testets avslutning, bedömdes som godkända (funktionella). Claims (4)
1. En däckbalanseringsgel, som innehälls i luftkaviteten i ett fordonsdäck eller i en fordonsslang, k ä n n e t e c k n a d a v att den innehåller (a) 80 till 95% (vikts) av en olja eller en blandning av oljor, utvalda från klassen bestáendeav- i Polybuten olja med en maximal densitet på omkring 900 kg/m3 och maximal lägsta flytpunkt (ASTM D97) på mindre än +2 OC, (b) 4 till 15 % (vikts) av en gelbildare utvald från klassen bestående av kolloidal silikagel med en BET ytareal i omrâdet från omkring 50 till omkring 400 m2/g (c) 1 till 5% av en viskositetsindexförbättrare utvald från klassen bestående av (i) Poly-alkyl-metakrylater med en molekylvikt pà omkring 100.000 till omkring 900.000 (ii) styren-etylen-butylen-styren block-copolymerer och styren-etylen- propylen block -copolymerer med ett styren/gummi förhållandet på mellan omkring 13/87 och omkring 37/63 och balanseringsgelen har en elasticitetsmodul (G') på mellan 3000 Pa och 15000 Pa vid 2200, en viskositetsmodul (G") mindre än elasticitetsmodulen, en kritisk skjuvspänning som överstiger 25 Pa, densitet mindre än 950 kg/m3.
