Abstract

A solvent medium is taken up by the air through ejector effect. The compressed air is activated by the vehicle brake system and flows outwards from the blow-out mouthpieces, in order to achieve a repeated cleaning of the headlight glass covers. The compressed air used for cleaning, is received from the vehicle brake system and is initiated when the brake is activated. The signal for initiating the cleaning process is received from the vehicle brake light on brake activation, using the amount of air escaping into the atmosphere from the brake system. The vehicle brake cylinder (11) has a membrane (12) which, through the effect of compressed air, is pressed upwards and via a pressure bar (13) activates the wheel brakes by a lever arm (14). When the brake pedal (8) is released, a channel (15) is opened, allowing air to flow out into the atmosphere.

Description

507 055 10 15 20 25 30 2 With reference to fi g. 1 and 2 schematically show a “heavy” vehicle 1 in the form of a truck which is of the type provided with a brake system driven by compressed air (not shown). At the rear, the vehicle is provided with lamps covered by lamp glass 2 in which a number of exhaust nozzles for air, not shown in the figures, are arranged. Since the air exiting through the nozzles is intended for cleaning the lens, the nozzles are of course arranged in a known manner relative to the lens for achieving optimal results. In order to further increase the cleaning tone of the air fed to the nozzles, it is also caused to pass a solvent in such a way that the solvent is absorbed by the ejector action into the passing air to form dispersed particles of the solvent in the air.

With reference to fl g. 3 and 4 show a generally known braking system belonging to the one in fl g. 1 and 2 showed the vehicle. This braking system mainly consists of a compressor 3 driven by the engine of the vehicle 1 from which compressed air is pumped via a line 4 to a compressed air container 5. This compressed air container is connected via a line 6 to a braking device 7. When braking by means of the braking device, i.e. when its brake pedal 8 is pushed downwards as indicated by an arrow in the right-hand part of the ñguren, a valve denoted by 9 is opened, whereby compressed air flows via the dotted line 10 to one, in ñg. 4 shown, brake cylinder 11 at the vehicle's 1 wheel. The brake cylinder 11 has a diaphragm 12 which is forced to the right by the action of the compressed air and which diaphragm via a push rod 13 acts on the wheel brakes via a lever 14. When the brake pedal 8 is released, as indicated in the left part of the watch, a channel the air is released into the atmosphere.

A compressed air container 16 is connected to the permanent compressed air system via a line 15, which via a line 17 communicates with the exhaust nozzles arranged in the area of the lens 2. A valve means 18 is further arranged for the line, for opening and closing the line 17 and thus the supply of air to the exhaust nozzles. In order to effect a cleaning of the lens which takes place automatically and repeatedly, said valve means 18 preferably consists of an electrically controlled valve with fi return which is electrically connected via a dashed line 19 to the brake light of the vehicle 1 in such a way that it is moved in an open mode when the brake is activated and in a closed position when the signal from the brake light ceases. With very small efforts, an automatic recurring cleaning of the vehicle's headlights can thereby be achieved.

An alternative embodiment of the present invention is also the one shown in gurus 1 - 4. In this alternative embodiment, a duct 21 indicated by the dash of the brake system is directly connected to the duct 20 of the brake system, which normally releases the exhaust air directly into the atmosphere. in the area of the nozzles of the vehicle's lens 2.

In each case of braking, the amount of air emitted from the foot brake will hereby be used for cleaning the lens and thus instead of just being normally blown out into the atmosphere for useful work. In accordance with the purpose of the invention, a recurring automatic cleaning of the lens at the vehicle is also achieved in a very simple and ingenious manner.

With the method and the device according to the present invention, it is thus possible to provide an automatic and recurrent cleaning system for the lens with a vehicle equipped with air brake systems in a simple manner.

The present invention is not limited to what is described above and that shown in the drawings, but can be modified and modified in many different ways within the scope of the inventive concept set forth in the appended claims. For example, it is possible to control the cleaning process when activating the vehicle's brake in a number of ways other than those described above, for example by registering the pressure drop in the brake system during braking or purely mechanically.
