Claims (26)
1. Способ возбуждения электрооптического дисплея, снабженного фронтальным электродом, задней панелью и средой отображения, находящейся между фронтальным электродом и задней панелью, причем этот способ включает в себя:
подачу первой возбуждающей фазы в среду отображения; при этом первая возбуждающая фаза включает в себя первый сигнал и второй сигнал, причем первый сигнал характеризуется первой полярностью, первой амплитудой как функцией времени и первой длительностью, а второй сигнал следует за первым сигналом и характеризуется второй полярностью, противоположной первой полярности, второй амплитудой как функцией времени и второй длительностью; при этом сумма первой амплитуды как функции времени, интегрированной по первой длительности, и второй амплитуды как функции времени, интегрированной по второй длительности, дает первое смещение импульса; и
подачу второй возбуждающей фазы в среду отображения, причем эта вторая возбуждающая фаза дает второе смещение импульса;
при этом сумма первого и второго смещений будет по существу равна нулю.
2. Способ по п. 1, в котором первая полярность представляет собой отрицательное напряжение, а вторая полярность представляет собой положительное напряжение.
3. Способ по п. 1, в котором первая полярность представляет собой положительное напряжение, а вторая полярность представляет собой отрицательное напряжение.
4. Способ по п. 1, в котором длительность первой возбуждающей фазы отличается от длительности второй возбуждающей фазы.
5. Способ по п. 1, в котором первая длительность определяется соотношением между величиной второго смещения импульса, обусловленного второй возбуждающей фазой, и амплитудной разницей между первой амплитудой и второй амплитудой.
6. Способ по п. 1, в котором средой отображения является электрофоретическая среда.
7. Способ по п. 6, в котором средой отображения является герметизированная среда электрофоретического дисплея.
8. Способ по п. 6, в котором среда электрофоретического дисплея представляет собой электрофоретическую среду, содержащую жидкость и, по меньшей мере, одну частицу, находящуюся в указанной жидкости и выполненную с возможностью перемещения в ней при подаче электрического поля на среду.
9. Способ возбуждения электрооптического дисплея, снабженного фронтальным электродом, задней панелью и средой отображения, находящейся между фронтальным электродом и задней панелью, причем этот способ включает в себя:
подачу фазы сброса и фазы цветового перехода на дисплей; при этом фаза сброса включает в себя:
подачу первого сигнала, который характеризуется первой полярностью, первой амплитудой как функцией времени и первой длительностью на фронтальном электроде;
подачу второго сигнала, который характеризуется второй полярностью, противоположной первой полярности, второй амплитудой как функцией времени и второй длительностью во время первой длительности на задней панели;
подачу третьего сигнала, который характеризуется второй полярностью, третьей амплитудой как функцией времени и третьей длительностью, следующей за первой длительностью на фронтальном электроде; и
подачу четвертого сигнала, который характеризуется первой полярностью, четвертой амплитудой как функцией времени и четвертой длительностью, следующей за второй длительностью на задней панели;
при этом сумма первой амплитуды как функции времени, интегрированной по первой длительности, второй амплитуды как функции времени, интегрированной по второй длительности, третьей амплитуды как функции времени, интегрированной по третьей длительности и четвертой амплитуды как функции времени, интегрированной по четвертой длительности, дает смещение импульса, призванное поддерживать баланс по постоянному току в среде отображения во время фазы сброса и фазы цветового перехода.
10. Способ по п. 9, в котором фаза сброса стирает предыдущие оптические свойства, отображаемые дисплеем.
11. Способ по п. 9, в котором фаза цветового перехода по существу изменяет оптическое свойство, отображаемое дисплеем.
12. Способ по п. 9, в котором первая полярность представляет собой отрицательное напряжение.
13. Способ по п. 9, в котором первая полярность представляет собой положительное напряжение.
14. Способ по п. 9, в котором смещение импульса пропорционально напряжению обратного выброса, которое испытывает среда отображения.
15. Способ по п. 9, в котором первая длительность и вторая длительность инициируются одновременно.
16. Способ по п. 9, в котором четвертая длительность происходит во время третьей длительности.
17. Способ по п. 16, в котором третья длительность и четвертая длительность инициируются одновременно.
