Abstract

The invention concerns a device used to deviate broken ice from the bow area of the ship, so as to prevent absorption of the ice blocks by the propellers.According to the invention, the device consists of two vertical or slightly vertical side plankings alongside the ship from the stem to the middle of the ship or to the cylindrical area, for ships with a cylindrical area. Vertically, the plankings go from the base plan up to the planking of the ship. In the inferior part between the plankings and the flat bottom of the hull, the planking of the ship continues with a flat bottom located on the base plan and forms a closed space. The passage from the flat bottom to the plankings is realized in angle or through couplings.
