Abstract

A gearbox or gear case with continuous regulation which exclusively uses toothed wheels. Diagrammatically (Fig. 1) it consists of a differential system of two planet wheels 2 and 27 and six planet gears 3 to 8. One of the planet wheels 2 is connected to the output shaft 1 and the other 27 meshes, via the wheel 28, with the wheel 23 located on the end of the input shaft 24. The rotary movement of the input shaft 24 is transmitted via the wheel 23 to the wheel 29, from the latter to the shaft and intermediate wheel 22 and 21 and from the latter to the planet gears 3 to 8 by means of the shafts 10 to 15 and bevel wheels or pinions 15 to 20 and simultaneously to the planet wheel 27 via the wheel 28. The shafts 10 to 15 slide in the centre of the planet gears 3 to 8 and are integral therewith. The intermediate shaft 22 has a rocking movement about the input shaft 24. The distancing of the intermediate shaft 22 with respect to the geometrical axis xy determines an identical distancing of all the pinions 15 to 20 in such a manner that the intermediate wheel always stays in contact with one or more pinions, the assembly of which functions as a crown wheel of variable diameter. By means of a judicious definition of the diameters and number of teeth of the planet wheels, planet gears, pinions and intermediate wheel, it is possible, when one of the pinions enters into contact with the intermediate wheel, for this to take place always in a correct position, irrespective of the position of the intermediate shaft. <IMAGE>
