Abstract

Una prensa de tornillo (14) para separar el liquido de una mezcla de solido-liquido comprende una carcasa (18) que tiene secciones de entrada y salida (24, 26), y una seccion de filtro (28) entre aquellas. La seccion de filtro (28) incluye una pila de placas de filtracion (36) coplanarias que se extiende axialmente definiendo un pasaje central para recibir un tornillo configurado para transportar la mezcla de solido-liquido desde la seccion de entrada (24) hasta la seccion de salida (26) a la vez que se comprime y deshidrata la mezcla de solido-liquido expulsando a la fuerza al menos a una parte del contenido liquido de la mezcla hacia el exterior de la carcasa a traves de los espacios entre placas (40) definidos entre cada par de placas de filtracion adyacentes (36). Las placas de filtracion (36) se mantienen fijas entre si y sujetadas en contacto cara a cara intimo y directo mediante un conjunto de sujecion (38) operable para aplicar una presion de sujecion axial predeterminada de forma sustancialmente uniforme a la altura de dicho pasaje central. Los espacios entre placas (40) estan controlados por la aspereza de la superficie (R) de las placas (36) y la presion de sujecion.
