Un proceso para la recuperacion de metal que comprende cobre y/o un metal precioso de un material que contiene metal que incluye los siguientes pasos: lixiviar el material que contiene metal con un lixiviante alcalino y un aminoacido o derivado del mismo para producir un metal que contiene un lixiviado; y extraer el metal del lixiviado.
