Description
図1は、不透明なポリエステルフィルム基体、インキ受容層およびカバー層を有する多層のカードの、一定の比率ではない、概略の断面の立面図である。
図2は、インキ受容層の表面上でカバー層の直下に追加の情報収容層を有する、図1に示した多層のカードの同様の概略の立面図である。
図3は、前記基体の第2の表面上に、追加のインキ受容層およびカバー層を有する、図2に示した多層のカードの同様の概略の立面図である。
フィルムのTODは、透過モードにおいてMacbeth濃度計TD902(Dent and Woods Ltd, Basingstoke, UK より入手した)を用いて測定された。
フィルムの白色度指数および黄色度指数は、Colorgard System 2000, Model/45(Pacific Scientificにより製造された)を用いて、ASTM D313に記載されている原理に基づいて測定された。
ヒートシールは、合わせて位置を決めること、および不透明なポリエステル基体層上に存在する2つのインキ受容層を、275kPa(40psi)の圧力下で10秒間にわたって140℃に加熱することによって形成された。シールされたフィルムは室温まで冷却されて、そして4.23mm/秒の一定の速度でフィルムの層を剥離するために直線の張力のもとで単位幅当りの必要な力を測定することにより、ヒートシール強さを決定した。
層剥離の感受性を、以下のエッジ衝撃試験を用いて測定した。86mm×54.5mm×750(または640)μmの寸法の多層のカードを手の中で直立して保持し、そしてカードの角のエッジを用いて木製のテーブルに均一に10回打ち当てた。そのカードを次に層剥離に関して検査して、優秀(層剥離なし)、良好(層剥離の小さな兆候)または劣悪(完全な層剥離−カードの層が明確に分離し、および容易に剥離することができる)として採点した。
基体の総重量に関して15重量%の0.7μmの体積で分類された中央粒子直径を有するアナターゼの二酸化チタンと、基体の総重量に関して8重量%のLomod ST4090A(エステル−エーテル共重合体、General Electric Corporationにより供給される)と、460ppmの蛍光増白剤とを含むポリエチレンテレフタレートの基体層ポリマー、および82モル%のエチレンテレフタレートと18モル%のエチレンイソフタレートとを含む2つの外側のインキ受容層ポリマーの別個の流れを、別個の押出機から単一チャネルの共押出集成装置へと供給した。そのポリマー層はフィルム形成ダイを通して水冷され回転して急冷するドラム上へと押出されて、非晶質の流延された複合材押出物を与えた。その流延された押出物を約80℃の温度に加熱し、そして次に3.2:1の前方への延伸比において縦方向に延伸した。その複合材シートをテンターオーブン内へと通して、そこでシートは乾燥され、および横向きの方向にその最初の寸法の約3.4倍に延伸された。その2軸延伸された複合材シートを約225℃の温度においてヒートセットした。その複合材シートの最終的なフィルムの厚さは150μmであった。その不透明な基体層は125μmの厚さであり、2つの外側のインキ受容層は双方とも12.5μmの厚さであった。
(i) 透過光学濃度(TOD)=1.2。
(ii) 白色度指数=96単位。
黄色度指数=−0.9単位。
(iii) ヒートシール強さ=2000Nm−1。
(iv) 層剥離の感受性=優秀(すなわち、層剥離はない)。
これは本発明によらない対照の例である。
Lomod ST4090Aを基体層の組成物から省いたことを除いて、実施例1の手順を繰り返した。厚さ750μmの積層されたシートから切り出された寸法86mm×54.5mmの多層のカードを、ここに記載されたエッジ衝撃試験にかけて、そして以下の特性を示した:
(iv) 層剥離の感受性=劣悪(すなわち、完全な層剥離−カードの層が明確に分離し、および容易に剥離することができる)。
Lomod ST4090Aの代りにLomod TE3040A(エステル−エーテル共重合体、General Electric Corporationから供給される)を用いたことを除いて、実施例1の手順を繰り返した。厚さ750μmの積層されたシートから切り出された寸法86mm×54.5mmの多層のカードを、ここに記載されたエッジ衝撃試験にかけて、そして以下の特性を示した:
(iv) 層剥離の感受性=良好(層剥離の小さな兆候)
前記基体が蛍光増白剤のかわりに青色染料を含み、単一のエステル共重合体のインキ受容層を有し、および一軸延伸されたポリエチレンテレフタレート基盤フィルムの表面を以下の成分を含むアクリルのインキ受容層組成物で被覆したことを除いて、実施例1の手順を繰り返した:
アクリル樹脂 163ml
(25重量%のメトキシル化されたメラミン−ホルムアルデヒドを有するメチルメタクリレート/エチルアクリレート/メタクリルアミドが46モル%/46モル%/8モル%の46w/w%の水性ラテックス)
硝酸アンモニウム 6ml
(10w/w%の水溶液)
脱イオン水 2.5リットルまで。
(ii) 白色度指数=96単位。
黄色度指数=−5.7単位。
(iv) 層剥離の感受性=優秀(すなわち、層剥離はない)。

Claims (13)
- (i)少なくとも1つのエステル−エーテル共重合体をその基体の総重量に関して0.2から30重量%までの範囲において含み、1.2から1.5までの範囲内の密度を有する不透明なポリエステルフィルム基体と、
(ii)前記基体の少なくとも1つの表面上のインキ受容層と、
(iii)前記インキ受容層の表面上のおよび/または前記基体の表面上のカバー層とを含み、前記基体は二酸化チタンから選択される微粒子無機充填剤をさらに含むことを特徴とする多層のカード。 - 前記エステル−エーテル共重合体が少なくとも1つのアルキレンテレフタレートを含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の多層のカード。
- 前記エステル−エーテル共重合体が少なくとも1つのポリ(アルキレンオキシド)グリコールを含むことを特徴とする請求項1または請求項2のいずれか1つに記載の多層のカード。
- 前記基体が、無機充填剤を前記基体の総重量に対して5から25重量%の範囲において含むことを特徴とする請求項1から3のいずれか1つに記載の多層のカード。
- 前記インキ受容層がアクリル樹脂を含むことを特徴とする請求項1から4のいずれか1つに記載の多層のカード。
- 前記インキ受容層がポリエステル樹脂を含むことを特徴とする請求項1から5のいずれか1つに記載の多層のカード。
- 前記基体が(i)その第1の表面上のアクリル樹脂を含むインキ受容層と、(ii)その第2の表面上にポリエステル樹脂を含むインキ受容層と、を有することを特徴とする請求項1から6のいずれかの1つに記載の多層のカード。
- 前記基体が少なくとも100μmの厚さを有することを特徴とする請求項1から7のいずれか1つに記載の多層のカード。
- 前記基体が100μm〜350μmの厚さを有することを特徴とする請求項1から7のいずれか1つに記載の多層のカード。
- 前記ポリエステル樹脂を含むインキ受容層が50μm未満の厚さを有することを特徴とする請求項6から9のいずれか1つに記載の多層のカード。
- 多層のカードを製造する方法であって、
不透明剤とその基体の総重量に関して0.2から30重量%までの範囲内の少なくとも1つのエステル−エーテル共重合体を含む溶融した線状ポリエステルの層を押出すことにより不透明な基体を形成する工程であって、前記基体は1.2から1.5までの範囲内の密度を有し、前記基体は二酸化チタンから選択される微粒子無機充填剤をさらに含む工程と、
前記押出物を急冷する工程と、
前記急冷された押出物を少なくとも1つの方向に延伸する工程と、
前記基体の少なくとも1つの表面上にインキ受容層を形成する工程と、
前記インキ受容層の表面上に絵のおよび/または書かれた情報を付着する工程と、
前記情報を収容しているインキ受容層の表面および/または前記基体の表面上にカバー層を形成する工程と
を具えたことを特徴とする方法。 - 前記基体および前記インキ受容層(単数または複数)が共押出によって形成されることを特徴とする請求項11に記載の方法。
- 前記多層のカードが第1の自立フィルム構造体および第2の自立フィルム構造体を積層することにより形成され、前記第1の自立フィルム構造体が、少なくとも1つの表面上にインキ受容層を有する不透明ポリエステル基体であり、前記第2の自立フィルム構造体がカバー層であることを特徴とする、請求項11または請求項12のいずれか1つに記載の方法。
