Description
図1は、本発明による燃料改質装置の第1実施形態を示す概略構成図である。同図に示される燃料改質装置1は、例えばガソリン等の炭化水素系燃料と空気との混合気を改質可能なものであり、例えば自動車の駆動源である内燃機関の燃料(改質ガス)を生成するのに用いられる。図1に示されるように、燃料改質装置1は、概ね筒状に形成された本体2を有し、この本体2の軸心が概ね垂直に延在する状態で使用される。また、燃料改質装置1は、本体2の一端部(図1における下部)に接続された燃料噴射弁(燃料供給手段)3を有する。燃料噴射弁3は、燃料供給管L1と図示されない燃料ポンプとを介して燃料タンク(図示省略)に接続されており、燃料改質装置1の使用時にガソリン等の炭化水素系燃料を上方に噴射するものである。

以下、図7を参照しながら、本発明による燃料改質装置の第2実施形態について説明する。なお、上述の第1実施形態に関連して説明されたものと同一の要素には同一の参照符号が付され、重複する説明は省略される。
以下、図8を参照しながら、本発明による燃料改質装置の第3実施形態について説明する。なお、上述の第1実施形態等に関連して説明されたものと同一の要素には同一の参照符号が付され、重複する説明は省略される。
以下、図9を参照しながら、本発明による燃料改質装置の第4実施形態について説明する。なお、上述の第1実施形態等に関連して説明されたものと同一の要素には同一の参照符号が付され、重複する説明は省略される。

Claims (6)
- 燃料と空気との混合気を改質するための燃料改質装置において、
燃料と空気とが導入されると共に燃料と空気との混合気が上向きに進行するように構成された混合室と、
前記混合室の下流側に設けられており、前記混合気を改質するための改質触媒を含む改質反応室と、
前記混合室の下部に設けられており、前記改質反応室内に到達しなかった燃料を回収するための燃料回収手段とを備えることを特徴とする燃料改質装置。 - 前記混合室の下部には、燃料を上方に噴射可能な燃料噴射弁が接続されており、前記燃料回収手段は、前記燃料噴射弁の周囲に配置された傾斜面を含み、当該傾斜面は、前記燃料噴射弁に向かって下向きに傾斜していることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の燃料改質装置。
- 前記燃料回収手段によって回収された燃料を前記混合室に再供給可能にするための手段を更に備えることを特徴とする請求項1または2に記載の燃料改質装置。
- 前記改質反応室は、前記混合室の外周に設けられていることを特徴とする請求項1から3の何れかに記載の燃料改質装置。
- 前記燃料回収手段による燃料の回収量を取得する燃料回収量取得手段と、
前記燃料回収量取得手段によって取得された前記回収量に基づいて、前記混合室に導入される燃料の量を設定する手段とを更に備えることを特徴とする請求項1から4の何れかに記載の燃料改質装置。 - 燃料と空気との混合気を改質するための燃料改質方法において、
所定の混合室内に燃料と空気とを導入すると共に、当該混合室内で燃料と空気との混合気を上向きに進行させながら下流側の改質反応室に流入させる一方、前記混合室の下部で、前記改質反応室内に到達しなかった燃料を回収することを特徴とする燃料改質方法。
